@tomdavies Really awesome, great job! Congrats to you and the whole team.
Yeah I think your right, my guess is I have 3 credit cards (0 debt) but a high available credit so guess this is why.
Would be nice is monzo did give a bit more info on why tho
If we could lay off the digs at other members it would be appreciated.
First things first, I’m loving it. Good balance of features/perks for the price tag and all wrapped up in a well-polished release.
The biggest plus point is that while these features may be found in other apps it’s harder to find them all in one banking app that I actually want to use, that makes this well worth the money for me.
Currently I don’t think there is anything “bad” but if there is scope for some future iterations here’s my wishlist, most wanted first…
- Ability to assign a pot as a virtual card’s “money source”
- Ability to show/hide connected accounts and virtual cards on the home tab carrousel
- Ability to sort connected accounts and virtual cards on accounts screen
- Custom images for connected accounts and virtual cards
- An option to change the name and colour of an existing virtual card
- Ability to mark the fee for plus as recurring and add it to a bills pot
- Dismiss the “Getting started” slides at the top of the Plus screen
On another note…
Ulster Bank is present on the Easy Transfer screen but missing from the list of providers when it comes to connected accounts. Is that down to something on their end?
Great work! It was worth the wait.
I also wasn’t expecting to get 2 months free for being a previous plus subscriber, so thanks for that
Sorry for the dumb question but should we be seeing the interest rate about our non saving pots once a plus member?
Nooo I disagree! If/When virtual cards for a specific Pot becomes a thing, then I absolutely want a [Mobile] Pay Virtual Card.
Lots of use cases - but say spending for specific budget categories. e.g. Groceries always from my Grocery Pot / VCard. Yes please!
Plus -> Interest on balance and regular Pots
Yes, at that point I agree with you. I only thought of it after posting.
But we’re not there…yet.
Doh! Thanks!
I’m assuming that the interest is credited to the main account rather than being pot-by-pot like the savings pots?
Is it possible to opt out of the interest on regular pots?
Might come across as a question that’s slightly out there - however it’s just that it would introduce a slight obstacle for those who choose not to take on interest on their savings due to religious beliefs.
Interest wise, look at it as a discount on Plus, as plus costs more than what the interest gives back yearly.
Yes, there is an opt out.
I’ve not been up to date with the Monzo community for a while so this was a pleasant surprise when it landed in my mailbox this morning.
I’ve signed up and will give it a go. Nice to get 2 months free as a former Plustomer.
For me personally, the feature set works. I’ve wanted virtual cards and am already using one now; I have a flat bills account which is in Natwest, so to be able to connect that is also handy (I only log in to that infrequently to check everything is going in and out as it should).
Tracking my credit is also a big one for me right now, so also handy to see in the app, and I’ve doubled my roundups.
So from my perspective, there’s some genuinely useful stuff in there; but I get that it might not be right for others.
Things I’d like to see:
- Amex support - although I get it might not be possible given they don’t currently use Open Banking
- Personalised offers - sure, it’s great to be able to get whatever off a product that I might or might not be interested in, but you have all of my transaction data so please use it and provide me with offers that are of relevance to me.
- Account folders - I have 2 Natwest accounts connected. Can you not bundle them together in some way? Navigation is getting messy when you swipe between accounts and pots etc
- Metal card. The prototype at the last Plustomer event was LOVELY. Make it happen!
And it is easily selectable through the dropdown menu too. About 4 clicks and you can turn it off.
Yes you can
Yup, same as legacy Plus
Great!
TBH I am rarely excited by Monzo releases anymore and this is a non-stater also, no AMEX and no joint accounts
It looks great, but for me, the ‘benefits’ just aren’t enough for me to pay out. I’m currently with RBS purely for the gadget insurance, waiting for this to be a benefit on Monzo and I’d be interested in switching fully.
