It’ll probably be this… If you don’t get a decline message in the Monzo app then the payment will have never reached us and the merchant will have blocked it
If you can share the merchant then we can raise it with Mastercard.

so used main monzo card and flexed it…
hoping it can get resolved
thanks
It was most likely an issue with their 3DS system, I have prev used CeX myself with Flex multiple times over the past month and its worked.
For me on my Experian it comes up as a credit card and on credit karma (transunion) it shows up as a “budget account” (not sure what that is). As far as I can see it’s not on my equifax or ClearScore so I’m assuming flex doesn’t report there.
Ah, then that has changed. It used to be ‘revolving credit’ on Experian.
To clear up some of the above credit reporting questions…
When accounts get reported to the credit bureau they have an “account type” - but they also get grouped into an “account type group” by the CRA’s. For example - the account types; unsecured loan, payday loan, hire purchase loan, PCP loan, etc. have their “account type” but they all get grouped under the “loans” account type group.
Lenders can chose what they look at and every lender will look at different things but most will tend to primarily look at the account type group (just due to how we receive the data).
Flex is currently reported as a budget account which is in the account type group of “revolving credit” along with credit cards, charge cards and store cards. So most of the time - Flex will have the same impact on your credit file as a credit card does due to being in the “revolving credit” account type group.
BNPL now reports to the credit bureaus and gets reported as a BNPL account type which is in the account type group “other”.
I’m not sure how this translates into what is shown on the consumer credit score sites (Credit Karma et al.) since they apply another “customer presentation layer” but this is what we see as the lender.
I do!
That’s up to you but I do too… We’re the best British credit card after all
I’ve never really understood why some lenders ask these questions - We used ask this at my old company and the data wasn’t used anywhere.
Out of curiosity, could I ask why it’s reported as a budget account rather than just being straight up recorded as a credit card?
Not for me, unfortunately, with a £1000 credit limit offered when every other credit card I’ve applied for in the past few years has given me at least £5000. I do understand that you have to be a responsible lender but it’s made what could be a good solution pretty useless.
I’m assuming from what Theo says here that Flex is reported the same as if it was a credit card (or an I misreading it?)
If that’s right, it’s just a presentational thing rather than a substantive one.
I don’t have Flex at all now. I did try when I was using Monzo as my main account but was always told they couldn’t offer a higher limit.
It was a decision we took in the early days of Flex - Since then we’ve made a bunch of product changes - so it’s something we could revisit. As mentioned above it has effectively the same impact as a credit card, but given where we are now, there’s definitely a potential benefit to reporting directly as a credit card to reduce confusion.
No matter what it won’t show you the map. It won’t show if you’ve purchased via the card, Apple Pay or even if you flex the current account transaction
Each month I’m paid into Monzo I’m offered an increased amount. One month it was £50 increase, the next it was £1,000 increase. Just got to have patience it seems.
I did try roughly every month but it was always a
Could be because I’m retired - I don’t know. My disposable income is actually greater than when I was working because the mortgage is paid off, nowhere near as much petrol, etc.
Having said that, Amex increased my credit limit by a few thousand shortly after I retired!
DVLA just rejected me when I used my Flex Card and on my timeline, I can see that I am unable to flex this. Does anyone know why this would not be an eligible transaction?
Tax payments are exempt, so maybe counting it in that?
Can’t use Flex to pay taxes, and that includes vehicle tax unfortunately.
Do you know if car insurance would be an issue? I was banking on Flexing that soon
