Not really when the reason I was paying for Monzo was for a metal card!

I dont understand the fascination with the Metal Cards, I had one and it stayed in my wallet 99% of the time, as I use google pay or apple pay… No one ever said oooh nice metal card, like they did with the original Monzo card

An honest question, what is about the metal card that makes it a deal breaker?

Just as much as we metal fans dont understand the fascination with things like free greggs or railcards. Hey Monzo, would it not have been a better idea to have Max with customaisable options. For instance, if you dont want a free greggs and a railcard, swpa that option for a metal card. Please everyone then.

I moved to Revolut because they are offering metal cards. Its a shame though as There are good things about monzo.

Your marketing department should be thinking outside the box. If you had MAX with my suggestion I would be back in a heatbeat!

Well, No i used the features like phone insurance and the linking other bank etc. But I wanted a metal card and Monzo had one so i went for it. However, Revolut has everything I was using in Monzo PLUS a metal card and is now cheaper than Monzo. so swings and roundabouts.

They dont bend in my wallet like plastic does. They are harder wearing than plastic and as they last longer less plastic going to landfill…

The only hing I would say is maybe remove expiry dates from them to allow a dynamic expiry date. You know, have one in the app and you extend in the last month from the app by going through verification

Curious… how often do you actually use your card itself?

exactly, and when they brough NORD VPN in that was a game changer. just wish you ould assign virtual cards to pockets LOL

everyday

That is mind blowing to me. I can’t remember the last time I used the physical card, and I use Monzo every day.

Dont get me wrong I liked my Metal card, but what I have realised is I hard used it apart from in cash machines…

I had one of the Curve Metal cards, and again it was never used, as Google Wallet took care of it…

And looking at the state of my metal card, it is starting to peel off around the edges…

Is it really though. I know theres apple pay etc and I do use that with other banks but I do actually use it at least 3 times a day.

and thats fair enough, everyone is different. I use a mix of apple pay watch and card etc. I suppose I like the shiny shiny lol

How do you work that out. For them to advertise it they either have to assume that ppl will take it up and risk buying in bulk or buy on order? So, not really an arguement

I’ve had this a few times, people seem amazed by it, others just think what a snob :joy:

That might be the case, but it is very niche amongst the general population I would be willing to bet.

Same with my :disco: card. And I love it so much. When it finally expires I am going to be so sad. I don’t want a coral card again!

It’s Monzo Plus - this was it, it only lasted a few months before being binned

[edit] looks like they have a redirect on to the 2020 release!

[edit 2] this is the summary of what it offered:

Here’s what you’ll get today, as part of the core bundle:

  • A new Monzo Plus card (in a choice of Hot Coral or one of our new colours, Midnight Sky or Lagoon Blue)
  • A custom Monzo.me link

And to say thanks for getting involved so early on, we’re offering a discounted monthly rate of £3 for these core features. (We’ll change this to £6 a month later this year.) Just like with the core features, we’ll continue to introduce more and more all the time!

And we’ve got a bunch of custom features available too, which you can add on to your core features:

  • Travel insurance (£4 per month)
