Hi guys!
I’m Mary and I’m a newbie :slight_smile:
Signed up for Monzo account yesterday and hopefully will get my card by tomorrow.
Last time I was this excited about receiving a bank card was when I sighed up for my first credit card and was under impression it was free money haha.

Very happy to become part of this community, was reading the forum all day today.
Couple of my friends have been telling me about monzo for a couple of years now and I feel quite embarrassed to have only joined now (probably should stop calling myself an early adopter)

I work as an Event Managers and live in London.

@Slicknade corporate side mainly. Incentive trips and teambuilding for IT companies and retail folk. A lot of fun and equal amount of stress :))

@jwhiterz watched a couple youtube videos of Monzo’s open office and thought these guys are definitely onto something! what about? I see you’ve been with Monzo for some time!

I originally joined as I wanted a travel card but then realized the many other benefits to Monzo and loved what they were doing and have done

Hello!
My name is William and I’ve recently returned from living abroad in Japan for the past few years. My Monzo card was waiting for me when I got home and I’m very excited to finally use it.

The area of Japan I’ve lived in was very rural and thus cash was used for absolutely everything! It wasn’t unusual for me to be walking around with the equivalent of about Ā£700 in my pocket. You might also be interested to know that ATMs over there are only open from 8am - 8pm!

As you might imagine I’m very happy to be able to use a modern bank and all the super convenient features Monzo has to offer.

Welcome! What’s the reasoning for the cash machine operating times? Very interesting!

It’s mostly a cost-cutting measure. There are many local banks in Japan most of which can’t afford to offer a 24/7 ATM service. Plus with the declining population there is little need to.

It’s frustrating to get used to at first since sometimes banks also shut down their banking network. Meaning if you go into a convenience store that has a universal ATM, you still might not be able to withdraw money as the bank’s network might not be in operation.

Everyone just carries around large amounts of cash and since Japan has such a low crime rate it’s not a dangerous thing to do.

George here! Been happily using Monzo since last year for personal and freelance needs. Now I’ve gone limited very interested in learning about business account developments. I have started using Tide but feel un easy about it because I’ve been so happy with Monzo :sweat_smile:

I believe Monzo have begun some research in to business account but it’s very early days and nothing official has been said yet

Ahhhh yeah! Sorry, it’s too early - I remember that.

I think it was more along the lines of ā€œwe have no plans to do thisā€ - But that was a comment before the statement you posted!

I wonder how far along they are.

Last I heard was it’s maybe but they don’t want it to get in the way of getting current accounts to where they want them to be, they’re undecided.
