the NINO letter and the NINO card are not for use as ID. They are purely to inform you or your employer of your number. Without ID they can not verify you are the person entitled to use that number. Also a NINO is no proof of current entitlement to work, just proof that you have worked here in the past.
The worker needs to show proof of their permission to work in the UK.
They need to show both:
- an official letter or document from a government agency (eg HM Revenue and Customs, Department for Work and Pensions, or the Social Security Agency in Northern Ireland) or previous employer, showing their name and National Insurance number
- a full birth or adoption certificate (that shows details of at least one of the birth or adoptive parents)
You should make a copy of both documents.
You don’t have to do this check again.
More and more of unnecessary faffing while pretending that ID cards are are the source of all evil in the UK
The NINo cards were phased out anyway so the young won’t have them. It saved the government 1 million pounds of our money, I believe. Impressive
as the internet printout NINO letter is not accepted by many employers you often have to get an official letter from HMRC confirming your NINO
You’re quite right I take that back. Apologies.
@anon44204028 tends to be another Stephen fry or google with his knowledge.
I noticed! I shall add @anon44204028 to my list of people to pester when I’m hunting for info!
He should be in the Coral Crew! But first, he would have to officially renounce his allegiance to Starling!
ha ha. He and I do have a lot in common…apart from the bank balance
I have no allegiance to any particular bank, and try and remain independent. I feel that helps retain a sense of balance in a team. When a moderator at Fidor I would be constructively critical at times, and feel that better than seeing moderators blindly supporting a bank every time they type.
i do happen to be a shareholder in Monzo if that not sufficient proof of interest
I didn’t know that Fidor Bank has forum!
2…a lively one for Fidor Germany, a sleepy one for Fidor UK. Fidor is quite groundbreaking in Germany and has great products and features. In the UK they have launched very little and most people initially excited by the prospect of them entering the UK have left and gone to Monzo
You could always cut out the middle man & just search Wikipedia yourself instead
Time to learn German! The more community forums the better. I value banks that have the guts to give open platform to their users and others.
What’s happening right now…?
