Huel, Saturo, yfood etc

ok my mac & cheese arrived. not tried it. one for tomorrow. however i never realised huel black had 40g of protein! i thought it was 20g!! No wonder I get so much stronger when I drink it haha.

The myprotein clear whey isolate is very nice too, very low calories and high protein. i get the vegan one which is like 50 cals / 10 protein and double scoop it

Yeah I had my dietician tell me to cut down on the yfood when they found out how much protein was in it… I cut out the breakfast bars and hope that’s enough.

Don’t sleep on the berry choc yfood.

It’s incredible and in this weather it really hits the spot. Left it in the fridge all day and morning. So good.

I’d be interested but I do have berry choc as a powder but if no one else is interested I will take them.

Happy to pay for the postage and send the label across to me.

Thanks

Same (but with Huel). Usually breakfast and lunch. It has kept my weight right down, and it’s vegan, and involves a lot less packaging / plastic than most meals. And it’s affordable.

Big wins for me.

I’ve been doing Huel for breakfast for about three years now.

I’ve tried at various times to also do it for lunch (to help with weight loss) but in general I want “real” food

I want real food all the time that’s my problem, 2.5 stone on since I stopped running regularly. I am 6ft 2 and 14 to 14.5 stone seems a nice weight for me but 17 stone at minute. If I try to cut out too much I end up starving and raid the cupboards.

I think they help me in terms of a) easy to manage the number of calories and b) keep me off unhealthy snacks. I agree they aren’t, like, slimfast that promises to keep weight off. Still a handy too if you are calorie monitoring and trying to keep the weight down!

I’ve been looking for a MFP replacement that doesn’t bombard me with recipes and exercises and the likes… will look at this…

Exactly same here. Years ago MFP used to be amazing and no ads or nothing but then it changed when they introduced everything and even made it subscription based.
So I just stopped using it.

Have you seen their in app subscription cost for premium? £15.99 a month!

I just don’t need all of the exercises and tips and ads and everything being there but hidden at the same time unless you pay.

I’m happy to pay for something that I genuinely use and feel is worth it.

(I know you can subscribe cheaper on their website)

Another app to look at is Nutracheck. It’s UK-based and has all our supermarket and takeaway foods. I’m pretty sure it’s also endorsed by the NHS and recommended by them for weight loss.

I use it daily and have done for a few years, moving on from MFP like others on here.

I’ve been having Huel for breakfast for over 4 years now.

At least 6 days our of 7 I’ll have a shake.

I drink Huel all day, with a full meal in the evening. It makes me full, and I know how many calories I’m getting with each shake. I’ve never felt healthier, and combined with the gym, haven’t ever been fitter. And it’s cheap too, more than 50% less per meal than a crappy Meal Deal from Tesco, which is full of salt and sugar.

Happy to provide a referral if you DM me.

It’s really filling. I love my food and can put plenty away so have serious issues with portion control.

I mix 90g with 600ml of water.

I start drinking it around 900 and it takes me till around 1130-1200 to finish it (whilst working).

It’s definitely a meal replacement. I mix mine the night before and refrigerate overnight. It’s thick and filling.

When I tried Yfood, the biggest issue was that it was so watery. Finished it in about 15 mins and was nowhere close to satiated.

I’ve tired doing two Huels a day but find it too boring. I’ve no doubt I’d be far healthier if i could manage it.

I still have it each day. Breakfast is porridge. Daytime is huel - I have two about 11am and 3pm (I need more than 400 calories to avoid snacking!). Dinner is something I cook.

Agree with others, it keeps you full as much as 400 calories can keep you full. Might be worth trying some of the pre-made stuff off the supermarket shelf first, the texture and taste isn’t for everyone (although I like it!).

Yfood daily for lunch, huel I found disgusting but Yfood is next level taste.

I still want the cookie flavour back and need some better limited edition flavours but mixing between berry and chocolate is a winner for me

I agree Yfood tastes much nicer, but that’s also what you get when you compare a product with about 15g of sugar per serving (YFood) with a product with just 1g (Huel). Due to the high level of sugary carbs, I also find it a lot less filling (sugary stuff tends to fill me up then make me hungry again later).

They aren’t direct competitors in that sense, I think if it was just any quick meal I’d go YFood, if it is health focused I’d go Huel. And you may as well start on Huel to see if you actually like it I guess, because if you do you might not need to switch to a high sugar, better tasting product!

Agreed on yfood tasting “nicer”. I do like Huel myself but I can definitely see why most would prefer the fast of yfood.

It’s Huel’s texture that makes it filling. May not be for everyone I guess.
