Also, some features mentioned for the new app have been available for some time in the ‘old’ app.
Personally really like it and the Monzo app was what stopped me from using Monzo. HSBC is a more simple app but the layout is just so less cluttered than Monzo. Really like it for myself, although fully accept it won’t be for everyone.
Typical low grade reporting from the Sun. They really ought to stick to what they’re the best at on the first three pages.
Unless the app I had was somehow significantly different to the one in the app (it’s not) that’s a gross misrepresentation.
It’s a country mile away from even Starling in terms of its functionality. Yes you can do those things but none of them are new and a lot don’t work in anyway near the same way.
I actually liked the new app as it was however and would’ve been happy enough keeping using it if it wasn’t for the fact the options didn’t work out for me anymore.
When I got my Premier Account it was a nightmare.
First I had to get a normal account which they then said they would upgrade. That never ended up happening so went back and just opened a Premier Account from scratch.
Almost a year to the day without them and my notifications have just started working again out of the blue, so maybe some tidying up has been underway?
Had a call off HSBC just now as I’d completed the post call feedback email I received, told them I wasn’t happy about the hour trip to and from the branch this coming Thursday and that it would’ve been much simpler to just have an upgrade flow online/through the app instead of losing two hours of my time.
While apologetic, they didn’t overly care and that’s process and deal with it
Ok, bye
She did say they can do applications over the phone but only for people in vulnerable situations.
This should be an option for anyone, by choice of how they wish to manage their accounts.
I opened a new Lloyds account recently anyway just cuz
Still same Apple wallet issue, but I don’t use hsbc for debit spending anyway.
Sadly lazy journalism is spreading to more and more papers these days
As you say, while the new app looks nicer than the old one, most of the functionality already exists and I would argue some parts like spending categorisations/goals are harder to discover.
I spoke to HSBC about notifications last week.
They knew a small subset of customers have had long term issues with notifications and had set up a special team to deal with these as there was no common factor that would make it easy to resolve (it affected different OS, different phones and only some customers while working for their other accounts)
They were going to be testing a fix this week. Mine also started working again today.
The Daily Express has always been drivel, to be fair.
I think mine are broken already - a global money card transaction earlier this morning seems to have prevented a further three transfers in and payments out from appearing. I don’t think I’ve ever had the current account and GM working at the same time.
Got the update and I honestly dislike it. It just feels too cluttered for me. The transaction page is also like someone vomited. I think separating the days from each other with bigger gaps or colours would be a good start. Lloyds redesign has been the best I’ve seen so far.
Always find it interesting how people can have completely different opinions design wise. I basically think the complete opposite. HSBC feels much less cluttered to me than Bank of Scotland (which is essentially just Lloyds) as it has way more menus and options and adverts. Really feel like HSBC has gone a simple route, despite myself having more accounts with them so there are more accounts on the homescreen.
It’s a definite improvement compared to the old app. Been fiddling around and I just dislike the transaction page now, as everything else feels good.
I really like it.
I’d consider HSBC if I was able to get past their inability to give me anything but a basic bank account.
I know it’s all in their IT but when I’m being offered credit cards with other banks and even Monzo who I don’t use has allowed me a £3,000 overdraft I would need HSBC to actually be useful to use.
But the new app I do like.
I didn’t mind the new design, it was nice and simple. I’d have maybe liked to see more detail in a transaction such as the date it occurred and slightly more options with the budgets.
Lloyds is, for me, an improvement in the balance of simple yet detailed but I do agree it can be a little cluttered at times.
And at least HSBC have a much easier CC application process, along with CS that are open 24/7. Not a bad large bank really - would’ve stayed with them if things hadn’t changed with Premier.
Now push notifications stopped working all together
Not that long in my experience, the rule I have found that if the transaction is done on a working day, it tends to show in the account on the next working day so long as the merchant submits it on time. The only time it takes longer than that is if it is done on a Friday, those clear on Monday or if the merchant submits late.
Curious, what do you mean it’s in their IT? I’m having this same problem with HSBC, is it because I switched out of a previous account with them?
