There’s been a few topics recently asking how many current accounts folk have. I’ve merged these all together below, but I thought it might be interesting to have a bit of a poll!

Who is your main account with? (the one that your salary or income goes into).
I’m curious to wondering how many bank accounts do people have and Who the accounts are with or the reason for having more than one - I’m currently Full Monzo as I don’t have a use for another account
I have
FD general use
Nat West spare
Halifax not used
Tesco was for savings rate
Virgin just use for interest rate
HSBC Not use
Yorkshire not used
Royal Bank Scotland not used
And before anybody’s says will affect credit rating does not my score on all the major providers are good But I don’t believe anybody takes notice of them also have numerous CC all with limits of between 5k & 25k
I would always recommend having a back-up bank account. Ideally, one with a visa debit card and one with MasterCard, just in case of outages. Even if you just leave it empty.
I have:
Monzo sole account
Monzo joint account
Monzo business account
First direct back up account
A switching bribes mule account that is currently Halifax
Got one during secondary school a 16yr old, when I joined college I got another and then a uni one. So technically legal plus they never asked if I owned one in the past apart from Barclays but I technically told them the truth I said yeah during school and college and they allowed me to set it up
Would imagine it depends of the terms and conditions of the account.
Santander say only that you can’t keep an existing Santander account if you open a student account, you’d have to transfer it over. No mention of other student accounts.
Natwest just say you need to be a student, no mention of any other accounts of any kind.
Barclays have a form you have to fill out to register interest in an account, and one of the questions they ask is “Are you planning to use this as your main bank account?” No mention of other accounts being a no-no.
So the poster you’re replying to doesn’t appear to have done anything wrong in having those accounts.
Had a look at HSBC as well, and they say that one condition is you “don’t have another student account elsewhere”, so you’re right to say that for some accounts this is an issue. But not, it seems, for any of the accounts the poster has.
(All information gained from looking at the main application pages. I did not comb through all the tiny small print, because this is a restriction I’d expect to be told of upfront, and as Santander and HSBC demonstrate, account restrictions are flagged up where appropriate already.)
I’m just curious as I’m new to banking and would like to know how many banks y’all are with and who they’re also is their a reason someone needs more than one?
Sorry if this isn’t allowed on here. I just assumed it’s a financial chat question
