Went #FullMonzo before the end of my first week with you! Waiting for my first payday with you.
Will be interesting to see how much impact having CASS makes. Monese have 70% of their customers using their account as their primary account for receipt of salary (Source: https://www-forbes-com.cdn.ampproject.org/c/s/www.forbes.com/sites/oliversmith/2018/04/30/how-monese-a-challenger-bank-for-european-migrants-reached-the-holy-grail-of-finance/amp/) I wondered what the % was like at the moment at Monzo?
@alexs quoted 15% in a conversation with me recently.
Obvioulsy, it wouldn’t surprise me if Monese had a significantly higher percentage: They started as a paid only account (which requires some research and informed decision making before signing up), whereas Monzo started as prepaid card.
#NotQuiteFullMonzo - once Apple Pay is here I will be but until then I keep some monies on another bank that supports it due to the ease of payment on an Apple Watch.
Nope. Waiting for Apple Pay
I’m full Monzo for my personal current account and receive my salary and pay personal bills from Monzo.
For my joint bills, spending and saving I still use my Natwest accounts (Joint, Saver & Credit Card) as there are various benefits (interest, cashback etc.) that I get from there that Monzo are unable to offer.
I’ve binned my Santander account and am putting everything through Monzo (mortgage, car loan, bills). Kind of like a parachute, you only really know if it works after you jump out the plane. I’m using Starling Bank for business banking too, which I hope one day Monzo will offer as I have a better feel for Monzo. I do have a backup Barclays business account and some credit cards but don’t see myself ever needing them.
Getting closer. Just waiting on joint accounts, and dedicated pots for direct debits to be taken from, them I’ll be fully on-board.
Not yet. Still waiting on Apple Pay.
I put my Natwest debit card through the shredder yesterday. Pretty big deal
Almost there.
Used the partial switch service because I’m waiting for a payment to my old debit card that I’ve already had to divert once.
I also need to make sure another company has changed over the payment details that I asked them to change over.
And honestly, I’m hoping TSB have something to offer before I close the account, by way of apology for their terrible recent ‘service’.
Once those little issues are sorted, I’ll be done. I have already switched all DDs and my salary over.
Real talk… what is the obsession with Apple Pay? You’re telling me you actually leave the house without your wallet? Contactless is just the same?
I’m an Apple fan boy but really only use Apple Pay when I remember it’s an option… why it stops you from switching to a bank is beyond me!
Moved last week. Loving it since. The direct debit notifications are ace, and I love seeing the consistent tweaks to the app.
Only thing I am missing is a list of when my direct debits are expected, and the last amount taken.
There’s a long and storied topic on this forum describing exactly why Apple Pay matters to people. Do a search for “Apple Pay” and you’ll discover a lot of people who, like me, value it as a feature.
Off the top of my head, some key points:
- Apple Pay is more convenient - I can use my watch to pay
- Apple Pay is more secure than contactless
- Apple Pay’s payment cap is higher than contactless
- Apple Pay can be used on websites and integrates seamlessly with iOS and macOS
I agree, it’s very useful. But it’s not enough to stop me switching bank! But each to their own, of course!
I’ve done a partial switch, but I’m waiting for the Pay-that-must-not-be-named (see here for reasons) and a joint account I can hold separately to my personal account before I go #FullMonzo. I suspect that, between us, my husband and I will always hold other accounts in order to take advantage of savings products with preferential rates but I know Monzo plans to tackle that eventually.
