well I grew up in Newcastle and apparently Greggs has been there since 1939 so I am way too young
In Sheffield we had Fletchers Vans, and also Cooplands when I was growing up in the 80ās
Thereās one down the road from where my mother lives. Gorgeous sandwiches with loads of filling (if a bit sickly )
Only one near us is the one in Sheffield on Fitzalan Square, the rest have all gone unless we go to Pickering but then we go to Russells
Greggs offer rescinded from
Used Nero anyway today as I could go large, but the Greggs offer wasnāt there.
I still have both on my app, not that Iāve ever used either.
Unless it disappeared when I activated Nero Iām not sure, but definitely wasnāt there.
Definitely not used this weeks?
Nope.
Could be as I used the Nero, but Iām sure it wasnāt there when I went to select. Iāll see next week.
With Max, Iād have 4 free coffees a week at this rate
O2, Max, Octopus (Greggs and Nero if both work).
Tried that, they donāt - Octopus informs āLooks like youāve picked your offerā. Spoilsports.
Yeah just spotted, thanks!
3 coffees is still Ā£6+ better off a week
I sort of agree - to me itās convenience, knowing what youāre going to get, and something that tastes a little more fresh (even though that last point is debatable).
Personally like their Rye rolls which they brought in a couple of years ago.
They honestly are fresh. Nothing is from the day before. All the ingredients are delivered overnight to each store and staff come in very early and start prepping the vegetables and fillings, only making enough to keep the shelves full and then continuously making throughout the day.
It isnāt going to be any fresher to be honest, and not any fresher than making something at home.
My 4am starts are screaming back at me.
Yeah I think most of it is - but I say ādebatableā because itās not like a proper bakery that makes its croissants for instance. They presumably arrive frozen.
They do arrive frozen yep. Itās probably not possible to make the bread that freshly, but a bakery can because thatās all they are making.
I still think they taste great, especially when just out of the oven.
Now thereās an idea for later this year.
Personal favourites in this household are Morrisons own brand 6-pack.
I canāt take full credit though. It used to be a feature in the magazine Custom PC and then I think they did it on Bit-Tech a few times before they eventually shut downā¦
Although not gonna lie, I do look forward to the mince pie taste test every year.
Starting to think that Ā£7 p/m for 4 Greggs coffees might not be such a bad ideaā¦
She only realised how much they had cost when she saw the Monzo notification on her phone
Any baristas on here?
I read the article and it talks about ālarge flat whiteā coffees. However, Iām fairly positive Iāve seen a comment somewhere quite recently from a barista (maybe on Reddit?) saying that there was no such thing. If you make a flat white larger you actually have a different drink (latte maybe?).
I like a coffee (flat white, please) but I donāt know enough about the various drinks to be sure. I do know that a lot of coffee shops donāt sell a large flat white.
