Pret actually used to be pretty good value. It’s deteriorated massively since it was sold to a German conglomerate a few years ago.

That said, would always pick it over Greggs.

My favourite chain for lunches that seems to be opening left right and centre is Farmer J

it is a tax thing i think. Cold take out food doesnt have vat, eat in or warm take out food has vat

also: Greggs customers stunned to learn food gets cold because they aren't actually kept in a hot counter

It’s the exact same stuff. Oven always.

They do other things that aren’t available in the takeaways. Mini sausage rolls and steak bake bites and single steak pies.

We have an Iceland not too far away, might give the steak bakes a whirl. I assume it works out cheaper than actual Greggs.

I’m not sure of the prices so I can’t compare.

It definitely got pricier but Pret was also hard hit by Covid with its heavy reliance on central London workers.

I still always get excellent service though and the team downstairs know us well and often give us free drinks and food.

Yes, I got a Greggs treat just before my Max card arrived. Curious if I get another Greggs treat now that I’m on Perks. All in the name of testing, of course!

Not sure about black but the cinnamon latte they have for now is pretty good.

There’s actually a hidden menu! Triple press the volume up button on your phone, and tap the screen 4 times, and they offer additional Greggs rewards. Bet Monzo didn’t expect this to be discovered so soon

It’s a rather ugly mix of bronze and rose gold. Doesn’t feel premium at all, the old blue Plus card was better.

And yes, I did that and got charged £5. Paid more for other cards before!
