Greggs and Pret chat šŸ„Ŗ

Greggs for me was cold probably more than half the time when I used to go all the time during college so I see nothings changed lol.

How you liking the card?

I suppose the main problem with the Pret offer over the Greggs offer is that there isnā€™t one available.

My closest Pret is 24 miles away, I have a Greggs 1 mile away and 29 others within that 24 miles.

Why didnā€™t they choose McDonalds? :sob: Iā€™d like free chips every week - canā€™t eat anything from Greggs :sob:

Iā€™ve had my Greggs for the week, good deal considering an individual sausage roll is Ā£1.20 each, so Monzo are paying Ā£4.80, if you have one every week

This is pretentious, last week you wouldnā€™t eat near a container!

Exactly. So people prefer Pret in the area people live (London) and then in the countryside they prefer Greggs.

Basically, what Americanā€™s think is the UK, you have Pret

Rest of the UK is Greggs

Itā€™s pretty much wilderness outside of London anyway. Scary place.

I mean itā€™s a sliding scale of container grunge food place ā†’ Pret ā†’ actual decent stuff ā†’ too crap to eat.

Iā€™ve never had Pret so canā€™t comment but for the price Greggs is a rip off IMO.

Just wait until you go into a Pret, >Ā£5 for a sandwichā€¦ its called Pret for a reason PRETentious

I donā€™t think Greggs is a rip off, its all freshly cooked food, (it goes cold as they are not allowed to keep it warm as that then incurs VAT) and is cheap, you can get a sarnie, a drink and a treat for less than Ā£5

My nearest Pret is 197 miles away. My nearest Greggs is 169 miles away. And Iā€™d have to catch a boat (or a plane) just to get to them!

Canā€™t we get a weekly Tesco meal deal instead? I have one of those a few miles away.

Isnā€™t everything a rip off nowadays?

Greggs is a lot of things, not sure you can call it a rip off.

How much should a coffee and a sausage roll be if you think itā€™s a rip off there?

Now I picture you driving 169 miles just to redeem a sausage roll for self-persuasion of value

I will never go into a Pret so I donā€™t need to worry about it. :joy:

You know all the pies, pastries, etc are ā€˜freshly cookedā€™ from frozen though, yeah?

Iā€™m not complaining. I like Greggs but thatā€™s not fresh in my eyes.

They come in frozen and are baked, yes.

I think it stems from the comparison of Pret where they come in cooked, and are then re-heated which seems to cost more.

Itā€™s so they can not charge VAT. If they kept it in a heated shelving unit they would have to add 20% on. They try to keep them warm but ultimately tax gets in the way.

Personally I like Pret, I find those who hate Pret usually have a bee up their bonnet but there we are.

Iā€™m also biased because Iā€™ve worked there before.

Iā€™m even more biased because thereā€™s a Pret in my apartment building so itā€™s closer than any Greggs ever would be.
