General Monzo Feedback after 8 years

This thread is just a lynchmob for the OP.

Is this a welcoming community who embraces new members and help them find their feet, whatever their debating position, or is this just a total clique where only those of a similar opinion are welcome?

Shameful contributions, IMHO.

New feedback for Monzo.

Don’t sign post this forum as the place to share feedback in the app because a vocal few in the community can’t actually handle it. Just give us a private google form.

Well, Revels is back with a vengeance, that’s for sure. Where ya been?

For what it’s worth OP, I hope you stick around despite the prickly welcome reception you’ve been subjected to. Although I don’t agree with all of it, I do agree with some of your qualms and I think it is fair, well-balanced, and well-articulated feedback. Your voice would be a welcome addition to the community, that’s for sure.

All I see is perfectly valid feedback.

Point 5 shouldn’t distract from the other points.

In many ways, this forum has become a little toxic and very circular. It always seems to be the same people posting too. It needs more perspectives.

I recall the Starling forum going much the same way soon before Anne closed it (I was one of the original mods on that forum).

Let’s try to be a little more welcoming to new users. This thread does not show the community in a good light, at all.

Just my opinion.

Point 5 is probably the most important. I understand fraud regulations and acknowledge this could happen with any bank, but my perception was that it’s more of a problem with Monzo.

The fact that I had this perception is valuable feedback, regardless of the actual underlying reasons.

For every person who shares this feedback, there might be 100 others who quietly move on due to this feeling.

So, while my wording was poor in terms of ‘random’ and I accept your comments wholeheartedly my prior perception (accepted it’s inaccurate) is worth sharing.

Enjoying some peace!

I agree. Which is why the reaction is so bizarre. There’s a couple of posts about account interest, a few correcting the “random” and the rest has absolutely nothing to do with the feedback. OP acts like he said Monzo should rename, give away all their money, ban investors and never give out coloured cards again. Then he’d have been lynched!

All I’ve done is address accusations from others who tried to portray my opinion as disingenuous or dishonest, likely just because they disagree with me.

To get back on topic, what is still missing from joint accounts that Starling have that made you switch?

Virtual cards from joint pots was the main thing

Unlike Starling, it does cost money, but that is a thing now:

How would you like it to work?

For me, the lack of joint overdraft is why my bills come out of a Nationwide account and I only use the joint account for daily spending.

That looks great, having to move money out of pots to spend it was a pain and undermined the concept of pots a little.

I did look into this before I started the switch and overriding opinion was it wasn’t coming any time soon :frowning:

Where’s the popcorn

Too late for the main event.

At least with Starling they are free, between sole, joint and your partners sole you have access to 20 virtual cards for free.

Welcome back @Revels!

They did ship a load of great stuff in this tranche of the app recently, admittedly after many years of not having done so. So it’s not so bad now.

Hey @DANZR

Thanks for taking the time to make such an in-depth first post

Feedback is always welcome and I’m sorry that we’re not hitting all your expectations as a bank - I’ve highlighted the points you’ve made with our wider team which includes the teams who own the different areas that you’ve mentioned.

Thanks, Alan, I appreciate that.

For what it’s worth, Monzo has always exceeded my expectations.

Your team has set a high standard and has been a real game changer. I just feel like I’m gradually moving out of the target audience and wanted to share what my priorities are.

Definitely feeling this. It’s a shame.

I’m in the same boat. Think once i’m back from the holidays I’m gonna give starling a shot again if they take me back. If not it will be nationwide or RBS.
