Apple, Samsung and Garmin are the top 3 in smartwatch market. Therefore, there must be many potential users.
Why are you tagging lots of random people?
Monzo have already analysed their customer base and found it’s not worthwhile doing. Maybe they will revaluate in 6 months time.
Why am I random tagged 🤦
But now I’m tagged do you care to present the numbers of people from your much looked at research about numbers of people moving away to open accounts that do support it… Nope you’ve got none, ah of course I knew that answer be coming.
Good day
Right. Monzo already works on Apple watches, but haven’t developed services for the other two. If you don’t think it’s because they don’t see value in it, why do you think it is?
Is it a full moon
If a bank that offers Garmin Pay is someone’s top priority, probably best they find one. That’s not to the exclusion of using other banks, including Monzo, as well these days, but I would understand the attraction of having them all come out of your main (spending) account
Any idea about UK-specific market share?
I have no idea how Garmin fares in the UK market relative to others but think that would be more relevant for Monzo than worldwide data.
Sadly going to have to leave for Revolut or Starling without Garmin compatibility. Less contact, carrying less items on runs/long bike rides, slick integration of devices/spending - disappointing Monzo arent supporting this.
If you want to stay with Monzo, have you tried indirect integration via Curve?
Would you not have your phone in those instances in case you get lost or injured for example?
You can then setup Google or Apple Pay and use that instead
Assuming she’d be happy ditching Garmin. There are reasons people prefer Garmin to Apple Watch and WearOS
There is overlap but if I were to generalise I’d say Fitbit is more tailored to casual health/fitness users and Garmin more tailored to athletes or fitness enthusiasts. I haven’t tried Fitbit for years but last time I tried it didn’t give anywhere near the same level of data as Garmin but seemed to have a more user friendly app.
A key benefit over Apple Watch and WearOS is battery life.
The way I see it, if you are doing very basic stuff, then Fitbit, if you run up to 10k then an Apple Watch is perfect, and Garmin fits the longer distances.
If I was running longer distances I would be tempted by a Garmin Fenix, but the Apple Watch is a pretty refined device.
But, Garmin Pay is a pretty niche payment service if the user research I’ve seen elsewhere is anything to go by
@Peter_G is running a poll at the moment of everyone’s suggestions for improvement across the whole of Monzo, and Garmin/Fitbit/Samsung Pay are all the lowest votes, after a month.
No one really wants it.
People who regularly spend time on the forum don’t want it. These are the type of people who will notice the Big Polls.
The Feedback & Ideas threads will be found by a wider group. e.g. those Googling ‘does Monzo support garmin pay’. In the Feedback & Ideas section this thread has roughly the same number of votes as Post Office cash deposits and Bill Pots support for card subscriptions.
Done my bit to try and put that right, so thanks for highlighting the poll.
Like (probably) a lot of people I found this thread by Googling something I was interested in/wanted - I don’t spend my life trawling through community forums just for the fun of it
Lots of people join here for a variety of reasons and it’s not a very popular request.
I have used multiple brands / ecosystems. Garmin by far is the best UX, performance, and insights. The amount of data Garmin generates and presents is really nice. A step up from other implementations.
The payment functionality is not the primary feature.
In addition to Curve, Starling, Revolut one can also use Santander debit & credit cards. I am planning on getting Santander zero because of it.
I run lots, have a Garmin Forerunner, and have Monzo enabled
I just stick my card in my zip pocket in case of emergency. Sorted
