I can’t remember ever being emailed about scheduled maintenance by FD before in… 8 years? Perhaps it’s my selective memory kicking in.
Not in our lifetime…
Just had a $0.00 Amazon and £0.00 PayPal charge on my credit card flagged as fraud. I’m pretty certain that it was related to the new card I’ve just had issued as my current one is expiring, I would have guessed it was related to the card detail updater service but first direct weren’t so sure. So I’ll be getting my replacement card and then another one with a new number.
I did also laugh at the automated message that said “we’re experiencing high call volumes at the moment, you may need to hold for 4 minutes”, as if that’s a long time.
First time I’ve had to phone them for a while but the phone staff were as soft spoken and friendly as ever.
Has anyone noticed this issue in the first direct iOS app, on the balances screen a blue notification on the left of the account notifies the user of new activity. This disappears after going into the 1st account, Credit Card and Regular Saver, but for me never disappears on the Savings Account or Bonus Savings Account.
A small issue, but it is irritating me! I called first direct and the advisor said that it happens on her app too and just to ignore it.
I was hoping that they’d report it at as a bug to the development team, but I was just basically told it happens.
Yeah for me it stays on my 1st account I think. Is pretty annoying.
Glad it’s not just me! Thought I was being a numpty and simply couldn’t work out the rhyme or reason.
Lol nope, I haven’t either. I thought it was related to working days and wouldn’t clear over weekends but wasn’t that. Eventually it’ll just go. Is surprising they haven’t fixed it, I imagine a lot of the engineers must be customers and would be eating their own dog food so to speak so would have noticed it themselves.
I had this a few times. It was a while ago but if I remember correctly if you click into the account and the most recent transaction it goes away.
Is it a blue dot? If yes, it means there’s a recent transaction and once you go into it or refresh the screen it disappears as you’ve seen it. Mine is on Android.
It definitely doesn’t go when you refresh the screen, mine stay there for days, but I’ll try actually tapping into the transaction itself next time I have it.
It works differently on savings accounts. For the current account this is what happens. For savings it can be really persistent and sometimes hard to cancel.
The clicking into the transaction trick should work but I don’t have any savings with FD currently to test.
I can clear the blue dot on the current account, credit card and regular saver, by either just going into the account or clicking on the transaction.
But no matter what I do on the Savings Account and Bonus Savings Account, the pesky dot will just not clear. I can’t even click into a transaction on these two accounts.
I have found that just swiping down (pulling the transaction list downwards) to do a refresh works on all accounts I’ve tried it on - when I then go back to the home page, no more blue dot.
After watching that, every time I go into the app now all I’m going to be thinking is “I saw blue, what can I do?!”
Currently have dots on both my bank account and credit card, tried tapping into each transaction (can’t actually do that on the credit card), pulled down to refresh on transaction list and home page, still had the dots. Force closed the app and it disappeared from the bank account, but still there on credit card.
Sent a payment from my account, dot appeared, this time even going into the transaction, pulling to refresh and force closing app didn’t clear it.
It definitely has a mind of its own.
First Direct has sh*t app. Hardly front page news, is it?
I think that’s a little disingenuous. Of a number of banking apps I’ve tried FD has often been the most stable, and fastest to use. It might not have a number of bells and whistles but for simplistic banking it’s hard to beat.
The lack of push notifications and their promising it with their jam tomorrow lies gives it only 1 star IMHO
You can enable it in Labs without having to wait. Unless they’ve removed it from there now that they’re actually rolling it out.
