I had no idea either. Honestly I discovered this by accident. But glad I did!
It’s also available on Android.
With Monzo?
Wish it was. There used to be a few options but the long-press options have reduced to just 2. Both have no use in day-to-day banking requirements.
Didn’t know that. One less tap then.
FD also allow you to generate code by long pressing app icon, as does HSBC.
HSBC though, do not have that cool touch thing you highlighted on FD.
Starling just highlight the name of the tab, within app.
Chase is the three dots to the right of the account name so no need for the double feature.
Though Chase do show options when long pressing the app icon tbf.
Santander is a no.
Lloyd’s use the three dots function, like Chase.
Though all of Lloyd’s, Halifax and BoS have long press app features.
Virgin Money is a no.
Barclays is a Yes
Ah yes, you are correct. 3D Touch was also as
you say better with levels
When Haptic Touch is present there should really be a small icon on the app icon and within the app screen where it can be used.
or something.
It’s one of the reasons I watch Apple Keynote presentations. It’s often the only place where new functionality is properly introduced and explained. If you just do the iOS updates there’s nothing that alerts you to the fact that there are new ways to do things. I miss 3D Touch (and Force touch on the Watch, having to scroll to the top to clear notifications is a real pain compared to one press)
Well, after a week of using it, I think it mostly covers all bases so I’ll keep using it for day to day. I’ve actually not missed transaction notifications, which I though I would. Also the maps, and detail. For me personally the novelty had started to wear off a little.
I think three things would really make FD for me, hopefully at some point in the next 300 years they might put them in.
Insights on a custom date range, it’s going to be a pain to manually calculate what I’ve actually spent each month (I work 23rd-23rd which is really annoying cos it’s so early in the month)
Better detail on the transactions screen - even just when it happened would be good. It is perhaps a little too minimalist
Showing available balance vs cleared balance. But, seeing cleared first does make me think about spending less.
I did try and feedback some of this via fDesign to be told they can’t help (Isn’t the whole point of this to be for that reason ) so I resorted to just sending messages via FB messenger instead, which seem to be “passed to the right team”
FD’s new feature Insights states that they share spending info securely with one of their partners and you can switch this off. Does anyone know who the partner is and if you switch it off does that mean you can’t have the Insights feature?
It’s Bud - If you remember artha or Bud’s own app, its what FD has “connected in” to drive insights. If you turn it off that button remains but it doesn’t do anything.
Sidenote: For a while HSBC said that spending insights were coming, which were a direct copy (well, they do own FD) of insights, but it didn’t appear there (I don’t think) but it did in FD.
So perhaps FD really is the fintech “testbed”. Though given that in 2019 a raft of things were promised and here we are in 2022 having only a few of those things, they must not have many rockets!
Not at all. It is a current account, so money goes in and out all the time.
The T&C of the offer, which I am sure you have read, would tell if you that was not the case
I’d probably leave in it a little while, FD can be a little twitchy if it suddenly moves again and might fraud flag it
No. But moving funds in and out pretty quick can cause a delay and a quick call to fraud to resolve.
Cool. It’s actually quite nice to use day to day, I have found it a nice happy medium.
Nice. Let us know over on the card design thread if first direct has updated the credit card design yet.
Other half left his in less than an hour and still got paid
Nope, they just sneak in
I’m surprised you thought you might – it is first direct we’re talking about
They do ask for notification access and you do get them when a chat message is received so I would’ve also thought you might have got them for new docs etc.
I’m actually quite enjoying FD currently, it is a little limited but it covers the important stuff well
I love the simplicity of fd.
I’m waiting for notifications to work properly and then will move my personal bills over to it and have salary paid into it.
Edit: removed about chat notifications not working as they seem to be working now
