Feedback: Joint Account testing

For us to switch from Lloyds, I would prioritise them like this:

Must have:

  • CASS - because we have so many DDs
  • Joint pots - for savings
  • Easy transfers between personal and joint accounts - we also have personal accounts, frequently move money around

Should have:

  • Joint overdraft
  • A good way to switch between accounts

Do you not have this option?
We can move between accounts quite easily

Anyone else had problems syncing with Emma after trying to add their joint account? Keep getting an error.

Ah, forget that one then! Haven’t joined the test yet, just going from what other people have mentioned - “Internal transfers (to/from pots/accounts)”

The issue with that is regardless what account you are in it is still to/from joint. So can be confusing as you expect to transfer from the account you are in to another account.

Hi all - JA cards arrived today and set up mine fine (Android). Wife on iOS having issues finding activation for her card? Any help out there?

Def. Echo the distinguishing features needed on the JA cards as they’re identical to solo cards. Also not obvious hour to switch between accounts

EDIT: attempt to activate card on iOS gives error that card cannot be activated at this time…?

Got our joint cards the other day.

Initial feedback:

  1. Navigation between accounts could be improved. Especially on Android
  2. Pots for joint account are a must! Need to save for a new Dyson and I don’t want to be the only one saving for it lol!

Hi All,

We have been using the JA for a few weeks now and i think most my feedback has been said previously but I’ve not seen the below mentioned.

  1. More obvious indication of which account you are in - currently it’s just the top bar but I guess this will be changed to summary. Maybe a different colour from what we see in the individual accounts.
  2. Breakdown of each persons spend in categories - in summary the spending gives you a break down of shopping etc, it would be useful to be able to see who spent what on shopping. If we could have this break down we can see who needs to cut down on spending what if we need to cut back. One problem with this though is would there need to be something implemented along side this to tag things as joint spending such as drinks out together?
  3. Moving money between accounts should have the same splash page and icons as when moving between pots

Hi everyone,

We received my joint account cards yesterday and I was a bit surprised by the whole experience. I couldn’t find where to get started and how to switch between accounts so I had to ask the CS team to find it out. Here is a couple of key points I saw so far:

  • Switching accounts is really weirdly positioned and impossible to find on your own.
  • When you’re on your joint account, there is nothing that tells you that you’re on it.
  • It’s still written Current Account even if you’re on your Joint Account.
  • Settings button is located on an account level even if you have settings that are global to the app. The hierarchy is confusing.
  • When you click on your name you can see your profile but you only have the details of the account you selected, not all your details. Again, this is a hierarchy problem. Account is global so you should be able to see everything related to you including both of your account details
  • I don’t feel that the white background in Home is enough to tell me on which account I am.
  • Payments has my recent payees from my personal account and a list of all my personal Monzo friends. That’s very confusing. On this page you really don’t know where you are.

That’s it for now. I love the concept and I have no doubt that it will get better very soon.

Edit: Opinion withdrawn.

Possibly, but remember, it’s still very early testing, that has only been made available to a small number of people.

It’ll be going into Monzo labs this week, which again, is for features that aren’t ready for prime time yet.

All of these issues are great, because it’ll hopefully mean the initial public offering will be a much smoother process.

Oh totally agree!

Thanks for all your feedback, and please keep it coming.

Something we’re hearing from a lot of you at the moment is that the account selector could be clearer. We think so too!

So, in addition to the ‘hold down’ method, which isn’t very obvious, we’re working on a more obvious drop-down on the account screen too:

Hope that helps!

Awesome. Any idea when joint accounts will hit the Labs this week?

I think that a number of people don’t understand that it is a test release rather than the final item. I guess that’s the nature of things at the moment but the expectation seems to be that we’re going to get a fully polished item when that quite clearly isn’t what’s on offer yet.

Fair enough. I withdraw my comments.

I don’t think you needed to do that - It was a valid opinion (and it was yours) - All opinions should be taken on board.

I think mine and @Feathers comments, whilst in response to yours, actually works for a lot of posts here.

Sorry, I wasn’t directing any of that at you personally, it was a commentary on my thoughts on the reasons behind the ‘lots of recurring themes’ phrase you used.

Come along to our event on Thursday and be one of the first

And we’ll make it clear that what you’re getting is still very much an early version of joint account. There’s things we think the full joint account experience should include (such as the new card design) that simply aren’t in place yet.

If I was in London, I’d be there with bells on!

Look forward to it reaching us poor village folk
