Express Transit Cards in iOS 12.3

Just worked for me on the Overground

(I’m on iOS 13.2.3 btw, not the beta)

Has anyone tried using express transit with the Apple Watch?

The examples from my post were with an Apple Watch Series 4.

Yes, I have been using it since yesterday. Integrated with Citymapper Pass.

I’m on 13.1.3, and it also worked.

Worked for me on my Apple Watch this morning at Holloway Road and Hanger Lane. Been waiting for this for ages (or since TfL announcement in May!)

Can someone produce the tube map :world_map: and we tick off each station as they get tested? :metro::ticket::white_check_mark:

Working for me at Aldgate East and Stratford

I didn’t think this thread could get any more trainspottery but…

Don’t get me started :bullettrain_front::steam_locomotive::metro::heart_eyes:

I’m keen to give this a go however potentially a stupid question… :innocent: Does this work exactly the same way as Apple Pay?

i.e. if you were to use your physical debit card one day, and then Express Transit another day, TfL would effectively treat this as two separate cards being used and it would mess up your capping.

I don’t want to start mid-week and lose my weekly cap :+1:

Also also. Has anyone tried this on card readers on National Rail that are linked to TfL and in the oyster zones e.g. Southeastern / Thameslink / Southwestern?

We need to get Geoff Marshal on this

Does he read these forums then? :grinning:

I don’t think so

Well, I successfully used it with my Apple Watch Series 4 at Mansion House and Baron’s Court this evening! Hooray :tada:

On the first point. Yes it just transmits your Apple Pay cars as normal but with no authentication. I assume it has something in the code fired out by the reader that tells the phone it is a TfL reader so the phone then releases the card information… Someone correct me if I’m wrong!

Yes, it just speeds up the process of activated the card in Wallet. It’s the same Wallet card with the same virtual card number that’s used.

Definitely not one to try mid-week then :grinning:

So far, I’ve successfully used Express Transit at North Greenwich, Bank and on Buses. Much speedier and seems more reliable than pre-arming my Apple Watch 4

It looks like it’s available in most underground stations now. Successful at Brixton, Clapham North, Barbican, Moorgate, Oxford Circus and Tottenham Court Road, and no fails since I began trying last week!

Agreed, so much easier!
