Enable the user to pick between google maps and Apple Maps when looking at an in-person transaction on the app. Apple Maps is smoother on iOS as opposed to google maps
I don’t think it should or even needs to be a choice. Monzo should just be a good iOS citizen and use Apple Maps on iOS.
Fun fact: In the olden days when the Monzo iOS app was a native iOS app it did use Apple Maps.
It’s something a few folks have asked for a lot, myself included, so I’m surprised there wasn’t already a feature suggestion for it. Thank you for making it. Voted.
Also voted. Would love to see Apple Maps used. Or, perhaps a maps overhaul and Apple Maps as the standard for android and iOS when Apple Maps ont he web is out of beta. Go on Monzo you know you want to
Please no. I normally use Google Maps on iOS. Just tried Apple Maps and it thinks my nearest pub is a place which closed down years ago. Hopeless.
Not sure what that’s supposed to mean, Monzo is still a native iOS app, and let’s not get into a pointless discussion about whether certain frameworks or development tools ‘count’ as being a native app.
The reason for the switch to Google Maps in the early days had nothing to do with how the app is developed and everything to do with Google’s restrictive licence conditions. To use the place data from Google for merchant data they had to use Google Maps as well:
I say this as someone who can’t stand how ugly Google Maps is and asked for them to reconsider in that very thread. Would be (pleasantly) surprised if there was any chance of this changing now.

how ugly Google Maps is
I’d explain what it’s supposed to mean, but you then went on to ask me not to with that masterclass in spin doctoring, so… I guess I won’t and you already know anyway.
