Double charging

Last week I was charged twice for a purchase in Tesco , the funds did get reversed after a few days, yesterday I made two small purchases, both of £1.99 which both showed up on my account , now this morning at 6:15 my app shows I made a purchase for £1.99 , I haven’t left my house yet let alone been to Tesco this morning ? it’s a small amount but this seems to happen often to others.

Without getting into many technical details, mastercard card payments are a two step process: when you pay with your card (the authorization), and when the merchant collects the money (clearing and settlement). We receive messages from Mastercard for both of these and we need to match them up to say “yep, this clearing message is collecting the money for this authorization”. Hi , thanks for this ,so basically it will keep happening! it’s a pain when my phone flashes to tell me I’ve just made a purchase but infact it was yesterday’s, for a moment I thought someone had my card , had to check my wallet mini panic
