Did Easy bank transfers change (Halifax?)

I could have sworn that I didn’t need to approve every Easy bank Transfer any time I add money. Now I am redirected to my other banking app when the whole point was it’s pre-approved (after initial set-up) for adding money near instantly.

I’m now being directed to Halfiax to authorise payments?

Did I imagine this? It’s now taking several clicks and sign-in on my other app and redirects instead of just selecting number and add.

I have tried remvoing and adding Halifax again.

You may need to delete the connection in Halifax and set it up again via the monzo flow.

So I tired this, and it doesn’t actually seem to remove it from the Monzo side. I’m wondering if I have a bug. As even when removing via the Manage Account > Pre-approved transfers (having removed from Halifax side) the connection stays in Monzo.

Sorry to hear you’re running into this, if head to the add money screen, you should see a context menu in the top right hand corner. If you tap that the top option should either be to setup a new pre-approved transfer or mange your existing ones. Hopefully that will help you get you’re pre-approved transfers working again. There is nothing there to manage it. As mentioned, I have removed this connection but it still perists.

I have removed it from the Manage Account > Pre-approved transfers section. But it still doesn’t remove it. I also deleted in Halifax and then the app.

Tried deleting the monzo app, restart your device and then reinstall?

Ah I’m sorry for the confusion & hassle. That section of the add money home screen will show any pre-approved transfer you’ve setup along with any bank that you’ve recently made an easy transfer too.

So for your case even though you’ve revoked your pre-approved transfer with Halifax, your most recent easy transfer was to Halifax which is why we show that as an option.

The idea being that we’re providing customer quicker access to moving money from the banks they most commonly transfer money from. Sadly customers aren’t able to directly customise or edit this.

Ok, but in answer to my question from the title. Did easybank tramsfer change? I thought it was a minimum number of clicks with a pre-approved bank. But I seem to now have to authorise every single time I click add money and get taken over to halifax. It’s now far from easy.

Maybe give Halifax a call and be sure it was removed fully.

Nope we’ve not made any changes to easy bank transfers recently.

Yep so there’s two types of easy bank transfers that you can make with Monzo:

  • Standard Easy Transfer that requires approval in the Halifax app for each transfer.
  • Pre-approved transfers which allow you to pull money from you Halifax account into Monzo without leaving the Monzo app.

It sounds like your pre-approved transfer with Halifax stopped working for some reason, if you setup this up again you’ll get back to that one tap experience that you prefer.
