More about their crowd funding
Been using it abroad for a few days now and I gotta say the exchange rate is actually pretty spectacular- been getting the intrabank rate all week. Given the £ is so much in the toilet at the moment I’m glad for it.
But yeah the weird funky business I get of some transactions being refunded, and then taken at a later date confuses me - there doesn’t seem to be any rationale to it.
My card arrived today, I picked the envelope up after a few hours (I was finishing off work after activating the card) and realised there were 2 stickers in there. I wish my Monzo card came with some.
That’s the same as monzo though right?
Only got it because I wanted to use Amex through it. Can’t really find a use for it now
Curve uses the interchange rate, Monzo uses the Mastercard rate. Interchange is slightly cheaper
Yep just be careful about the markup at weekends.
Considering the Curve Metal subscription - can anyone persuade me otherwise?
Travel insurance
Phone insurance (currently pay £8 pcm)
Cashback (this will offset some of the monthly fee)
Airport lounge
There’s plenty of discussion in the Curve forum which’ll give you food for thought…
Another fintech forum! I’m on it
I was weighing up the same thing but the insurance was a bit off. Revolut is what I went with you can add the phone insurance on extra and you get 20% off as a metal user. its a little cheaper and better imo
What do you mean by a ‘bit off’?
I know they made changes and reshuffled packages that left people wanting to go to FOS over it.
I read some bad reviews on FintechTalk forum and most on there recommended Revolut Metal. In facts most on here did when I asked or recommend HSBC premier but you gotta have your 50k for that haha
If your gear is expensive like my MacBook iPad and iPhone then the tech insurance is no good as I recall it only covering to 800 quid as well. just imho Revolut Metal is a better offering
edit- two metal cards for free right of the bat
Does Revolut cover phones/ tablets? Can’t find it online
I would deffo have signed up to curve metal if the tech insurance went to about 2 grand. But never mind, I guess I will never find the perfect option.
Tbh my tech is covered under my house insurance
@neovo you can buy it extra in the app under insurance section but you get 20% discount as a metal user
Don’t know how much your phone costs but 1250 is max end of what I would assume your device is worth and only £6 a month I think is super good…
If the phone insurance is £1.50 a week with the discount, that’s £6pm. Revolut Metal is £13pm so total of £19pm.
So Curve Metal is actually cheaper overall at £15pm.
Curve does not have mobile insurance just “gadget insurance” up to £800. Everything I own is worth well over 800 gadget wise so usless. If you just run cheap tech sure you might get some value.
Revolut is cheaper than other other offerings when you factor that in.
My laptop is the issue, it cost almost 2 grand. Having peace of mind about that would make me jump on curve metal.
