I’m looking to open a Monzo account to help manage my spending, but I’m conscious that I have a remortgage application coming up in the next few weeks.
Is it still the case that Monzo doesn’t carry out a hard credit search? Also does the Monzo account appear on credit reports?
I’m just worried that another credit check or new account showing on my credit report might affect my remortgage application!
I think Monzo do a hard check.
One account is unlikely to make much difference. But if you’re worried it will, I’d wait it out.
It will appear even if you don’t have any credit products with Monzo.
Thanks, things have clearly changed since we applied for several accounts!
Thanks everyone! I’ve recently switched my main current account to Lloyds to take up the switching offer and also opened one with first direct for the Regular Saver, so there’s a couple of new accounts in a short space of time.
I won’t be applying for an overdraft, but if the new account appears on my credit report I think I best hold fire until after the remortgage application is done!
Guess it just means I have to wait a bit longer before I can have my very own hot coral card!
I believe it’s a soft search for account opening, but the account will show on your report.
Loans, overdrafts and flex are also a soft search until you accept the product agreement, which then adds a hard credit search.
Ah cool, thank you.
I’m hoping to have the remortgage application done within the next few weeks, so not too long to wait. Is it sad that I’m considering adding a “countdown to Monzo” item to my countdown app?
Something else to look forward to
Usually yes. But you’re now in the forum, which means all sorts of weird. And educational. And entertaining.
Haha, perfect, it sounds like I’m going to fit right in!
This why people stay so regular
I have to say this does seem to be the most friendliest and helpful forum I’ve come across!
I’ll be getting emosh at this rate!
