Credit card for very infrequent use?

So I’ll be travelling soon and the car rental places at my destination explicitly want a credit card.

I’m overwhelmed with choice and not sure which to get. I would otherwise never use one.

Any recommendations?

Are you going abroad? If so, pick one with favourable overseas rates. Usually Barclaycard Rewards (though their customer service is woeful in my experience) or Halifax Clarity.

If you’re going to use it infrequently, don’t get bogged down in the offers of 0% for this, cashback for that, rewards for something other else, as you won’t really benefit.

I have had this for many years. Only use it for foreign currency transactions. Never had any issues with it. And you won’t be charged fees for use abroad.
