COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

I mean, we’ve already been there with climate change coverage over the last thirty years.

Every climate change expert saying “Climate change is dangerous and we need to do something about it” for balanced out by some absolute gammon saying “This is nonsense, there’s no such thing as global warming, we need to exploit even more of our natural resources for the good of my pockets- I mean the economy.”

‘Balance’ for the sake of balance is not and should not be a thing at all.

Science doesn’t work on the opinions of individual scientists. It works on multiple peer reviewed studies that get collated and reviewed again numerous times. When a scientific consensus forms, like the one that vaccines are safe, we have some science that we can follow. The scientists on the media in cases like this are there to try and explain the meaning of the scientific consensus rather than give their individual views.

Given when this was posted, it makes for hilarious reading in hindsight.

OK, many of you believe that those who don’t take the vaccination should face consequences.
But where do you think it should stop… 2, 3, 4, forever?

You can’t just keep jabbing people in the hope that this might go away.

Yeah, the flu jab is limited to 3.

But the flu jab is once a year, not 4 in just over a year. :man_shrugging:

The peer-reviewed science does also include studies by experts that don’t come to exactly the same conclusions over the safety of the vaccines and how they should be used, though. I have spoken to doctors recently who acknowledged this and they certainly don’t have PhDs in astrology

It’s unfortunate that anybody who doesn’t completely follow the accepted narrative is labelled pejoratively as an anti-vaxxer, though…

But unfortunately, these people do not get a voice.

The submitting author’s work is put before a panel of experts in the same field

So, they get a voice.

@Revels, if you owned a private business, you seem happy to discriminate, so, where is the line drawn?

I’m not sure how many times you need to be told that it isn’t discrimination.

It may not be a legally protected characteristic which are legally enforced, but it quite clearly is a form of discrimination.

All your reply tells me, is you’d be happy to discriminate against anyone if you could legally get away with it.

“Treating one or more members of a specified group unfairly as compared with other people. Discrimination may be illegal on the ground of sex, sexual orientation, race, religion, disability, or nationality.”

Not surprised you didn’t answer my follow up question though :joy: thought you may at least play it safe and go with A :eyes:

I do find it quite mad how your medical status isn’t a protected status though.

Just because your using the word “discriminate” it doesn’t mean you automatically get your way.
Rules discriminate against people all the time but if it’s not a protected class or fundamentally something that’s not a choice then it’s no different than a rule.
E.g
I like to wear trainers, clubs won’t let me in and discriminate against my personal choice is not the same as the club won’t let black people in.

I am not sure why you would need this explained. People do not have an absolute right to use any business, businesses just can’t ban people who are black though for example. Business normally doesn’t want to ban customers though, not because of rights but because they are a paying customer but they also have a duty to protect their staff from stupid customers as well. Pubs kick out arseholes who are too drunk or abusive and a risk to their staff and other customers, the same applies to the anti-vax.

Pretty sure there have been some vegans that have campaigned for businesses to give in to their personal choices and ban meat as well.

I think not wearing certain shoes is a bit different to a medical treatment which is still under emergency use. Don’t be so petty.

Especially when there’s no benefit to the decision. France, strict qr code access, unvaccinated banned from most of public life. Result: 500k cases a day. Israel, on their 4th dose, one of the highest case rate in the world.

Paint it how you want, you just want people who made a different decision to you, to be punished. Even though you can go back home to your fully vaccinated household and quite easily catch it from them.

The same question applies to you. Where’s you line who you ban from society? I’m genuinely interested.

Unvaccinated
Single dosed
Double dosed no booster

A bit but not much.

  • A Labour MP might not be welcome in their local conservative club
  • Someone who doesn’t own any classic cars might not be welcome in a classic car club
  • Non-millionaires can’t get into a lot of private members clubs

All forms of discrimination, in a way, all perfectly fine. Businesses don’t have to accept all customers and that’s really the end of it.

People turned away from a club can go and put their shoes on. People turned away from a pub due to vaccination status can go and get jabbed.

Businesses generally will go for whatever benefits their profits above all else.

I doubt many businesses will discriminate. If you go for the smallest group, the unvaccinated, that’s 10% of the population. You only need another 10/20% of people who are vaccinated that don’t agree with the discrimination.

You’re then talking 30% below normal trading and that will impact their profits quite substantially.

I for one wouldn’t give my money to any business who self impose rules against the unvaccinated/ not fully vaccinated.

This I agree with, it’s all very hypothetical because in reality it won’t happen, certainly it won’t be widespread.

You forget that those that think unvaccinated by choice are absolute selfish tools WILL go to places with the rules because they don’t have to deal with said tools although I doubt many businesses will do it but many people I know would certainly never be put off by it.

Hell even if you don’t care much about the vax one way or another you will have eliminated a lot of lounge lizards from the bar, the types who go on about flat earth and conspiracy’s while you try to get a pint. Big win! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: :+1:

Absolute muppets with their experimental emergency use 5g bollocks. No matter how much real science shows it’s safe they ignore because some but nut job doctor wants to be famous and skews data to try and ensure they are. It’s as bad as the whole freedom of information request that appeared earlier that ignored all normality of common sense.

No I really just want normality back with a lesser collapsing NHS because of selfish tools. The pandemic will end but those antivax people I fear will be broken by their madness forever and once this is over they will jump onto the next crazy conspiracy in an attempt to damage society. They certainly won’t admit they were wrong about the vax/5G etc and most tend to double down.
At least thanks to Facebook I know who the broken people are to ignore when they try to tell me about the next big societal issue.
