COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

In the U.K. and the EU the standard you want to look for is FFP3 (and find one that fits your face so well that you can’t smell nail varnish remover outside when wearing it). It’s a higher standard than the American N95 as it blocks a higher number of particles.

If you read you’ll see they can be sealed up, they are verified to the correct medical certification and currently going through the certification for the American standard and the European. The one they already hold is pretty much similar to the other 2 specs

More than happy with the design and the usability factor, this’ll be my go to mask for the duration

I suspect no one will say one thing whatsoever. People don’t even like making eye contact with others, it be very rare someone dares to make their vocal cords say something

In other news though… 2 years, it’s literally flown by. I’ve done 2 years (up to point of furlough ending) at what was my new wage top up job, I’ve only worked 6 months with them though, due to furlough. HR told my boss to sign off the probation, they didn’t want to extend it.

I favour disposable surgical masks. They provide a lot more protection than cloth masks, and they are cheaper than FFP3 masks.

The most important thing is that you fit them right - they should be sterile when you put them on, put on with clean hands and once taken off shouldn’t really be put back on again until sterile. The amount of fancy masks I see being bought in and out of random pockets, reused all day etc - seriously what’s the point.

If I’m going somewhere high risk I wear a sterile surgical masked (donned and doffed properly) with a clean well-fitting fabric mask over the top. I like the additional protection of different material types when I’m not wearing a proper FFP3.

Just angrily shout that you’re exempt from sealing your valve.

After the Gov’s latest campaign of sending out texts to every UK mobile regarding getting boosted, maybe they should read and take their own advice.

Add this to the likes of Tony Blair calling those who not vaccinated “idiots”, similar comments from the Archbishop of Canterbury, and even Boris and Kier getting the “get jabbed” message in their Christmas addresses, there’s no wonder that folk in general are at each others throats on the subject?

Consent to treatment absolutely still applies. No one is being forced to have vaccinations against their will.

As over 90% of the population over 12 have now had at least one jab there seems to be little of:

I don’t see your point. Consent is asked for and given when they attend for their jab. That’s just a reminder text, my eldest got one earlier

The actual words of the text
“Every adult needs a covid-19 booster vaccine” which isn’t exactly true.

Oh and even Boris’ new year message today ends with “above all, get a booster”

We really don’t need the constant barrage.
Anyone who has decided by now not to get vaccinated is very very unlikely to change their mind at this late stage, no matter how much it is promoted.

No harm in trying

Funny that I didn’t realise a text message automatically meant you have given up consent and will be immediately jabbed 🤦

When I need to get my whole team at work to do something I have a motto: tell them as many times as possible in as many formats as possible.

People forget, ignore, hear something else, mean to do it and their minds move on.

And that’s a team of 20 or so, god knows how you get a whole population to remember to do something. I’d be sending those texts daily honestly

Just to point out this is an emergency thing so it’s sent through the carriers to every number, so it’s not needed to be on any lists/files.

Boohoo a text got sent, no one still has your numbers, the networks sent them without sharing any information.

Yet over 110,000 first doses have been given in the last week alone.

This wasn’t actually an emergency alert, I got two of those in Greece last year (they are apparently quite trigger happy with them), they vibrate and make a sound whatever your settings and they show as a different type of notification altogether.

This was just a standard SMS sent through the carriers I think

I completely agree, apart from having a different opinion to others I don’t see anything difficult in what they post and the reaction is often quite petty. It looks a lot like like-fishing to me at points.

I assumed it was a reminder as he’s only just due his 2nd dose. I haven’t had a text

I received the text on EE (despite having the booster back in October) but a couple of family members on giffgaff didn’t receive it.
