Continously being asked for PIN when using phone to pay

I have face, pin and fingerprint.

My phone is set to be kept unlocked for 4 hours if it’s near my Samsung watch.

So, I just usually tap on screen and slide up and its unlocked.

I’ve switched off face and playing around here at home, it appears that if I use fingerprint to unlock, then select Google Wallet - I’m not seeing the message to verify.

So my plan before paying is to press fingerprint to unlock it and then goto pay aqnd hopefully that will work

I’ll let you know how it goes

[edit] this only started happening 2 days ago - prior to that I only got asked for PIN verification about 1 in 3 times

If you unlock your phone and Google wallet displays a banner like this, it considers your unlock method insecure and you will need to verify yourself another way.

This is exactly what I’m doing, and always have. Something has definitely changed.

So, the new technique I use is to unlock using fingerprint and then present phone for paying and that seems to work.

And to avoid any ambiguity, if the phone is unlocked as I come to pay, I’m pressing on/off button to lock it and then unlocking it again using fingerprint.

I’m sure after a few weeks of this, muscle memory will take over :slight_smile:
