I wouldn’t recommend the method shown in that link . Too messy, overly difficult, and too much potential to damage the chip accidentally. In fact in one way using contactless is safer as others in a queue can shoulder-surf your PIN. Mug you as you leave a shop and with knowledge of your PIN they could spend hundreds per transaction, without your PIN they face the £30 limit per transaction
