Bankera

European IBAN and they issue Visa Debit Card to the UK

Ayy congrats!

DCC is Dynamic Currency Conversion. You’ll see it on card or ATM machines in various countries. What they do is offer to convert from the local currency to your currency. So, with a UK issued card, they will offer to charge you, say, £12 for EUR10 rather than charging you the EUR10 directly.

It will almost always be cheaper to pay in the local currency. That’s because DCC will generally charge you 10% or more to convert the currency for you. Even UK cards that charge you to convert only charge 3% or so and many UK cards don’t charge at all.

I’ll second Bankera. I’ve been using it since last year. More or less instant transfers apart from over the weekend.

It also avoids the charge that increasing numbers of EU ATMs apply to UK issued cards. Czech Republic charges nearly £7 a go!

I really like the Lloyds horse design, similarly I loved HSBC with the lions. The new standard design for HSBc for me is much worse than before.

Thanks for the suggestion. I will check it out!

Does anyone have a picture of the basic Lloyd’s bank and the purple TSB card? Physical and Apple Pay?

If by “basic” you mean the standard Lloyds Classic account, then it’s identical to the Club Lloyds card, except that it doesn’t say Club Lloyds on it.

TSB’s cards are here, -I don’t know of a purple one, unless you mean the graduated pink one at the end:

They’re not quite the same, the standard Lloyds card is a different colour to the Club Lloyds.

How did you get the Cashpoint card?

Open whatever the most boring saver is - an easy saver iirc, and then ask customer service to issue a cash card. Halifax and Bank of Scotland do the same.

It looks like Barclays are going portrait with their debit cards, if their new personal banking homepage is anything to go by

Really not a fan of that. The logo just looks out of place in the middle. Even just having the word Barclays alongside the logo like Barclaycard do would be better

Finally a non-embossed barclays card :raised_hands:, I’ll be
Happy to misteriously lose my card.

I wonder when the new design will be released

Find out in 5 working days…

What’s incredible is that the previous (mid-70s?) identity survived until the early 2000s.

Finally! It’s been a long time coming.
