I usually moan about the text of the embossed numbers running off - but I quite like that there is no colour! Can’t explain it, maybe it just looks clean? But yes, camera scanning of the card is troublesome.
Ive had probably 4-5 positive comments on how the card colour stands out from usual cards from shop / bar workers
Something else which is kind of related to card colour - when doing the initial sign up for the ALPHA via the app, you need to enter the 9 digit code at the bottom of the card.
The app submits this code as soon as you have entered the 9th digit, so a mis-read and mis-typed number couldn’t be easily redeemed.
@alan_shortis did that actually happen to you or it’s just a hypothetical situation?
The numbers on the bottom of our cards are not correlative so, in practice, it should be really unlikely for you to write a random number and have it “approved”, instead the app would tell you that we haven’t produced a card with that particular sequence. You know what I mean?
Love the coral colour, please keep it!
Yeah! We just got the approval for our next order of cards and (at least for now) we’re totally keeping the hot coral
I’m a big fan of the color also.
The plastic covering the card is slowly starting to peel off in the corners on my card. Not sure whether anything can be done about preventing that.
Just wanted to say yes - I’ve been getting loads of compliments on the colour.
I don’t find the numbers particularly hard to read - at least, they’re easier to read than on my first direct bank cards, which come with silver letters, which then wears off leaving dark letters that are hard to read.
Hm. My capital one card which sports contactless is - or at least appears to be - made of blue plastic as the edges are blue and have not worn, though it doesn’t have a hard life as it exists mostly for occasional big spends. Barclays cards are the same.
It would be interesting to know what the limitation is with arbitrary colour and contactless or if it’s simply a matter of MOQ?
(oh, and I love the colour too. Everyone who sees it remarks on it. Very effective.)
In a previous job we issued prepaid cards using red plastic (as it was our corporate colour). Nice effect and kept colour wear minimal because the card edges, the back and part of the front were predominantly just the red plastic.
@PhilB We’ll try to find out what’s the manufacturer of your card. Thanks!!
@sevendotzero I guess you don’t know what was the producer of those card, right? Thanks you!
In any case, we’re learning a bit more about card production bunch after bunch so I’m sure at some point we’ll be able to nail all those little details that we’re currently missing
Capital One is Oberthur, Barclays is Gemalto.
We used CPI. I can send you a picture of the card if you like.
This is great. Thank you very very much guys, we’ll try to follow those leads to see if we can improve the sides of our cards
The card colour definitely gets noticed. I’ve only had mine a few days and I’ve had people commenting “wow, where did you get that?”
I particularly like the fact it stands out compared to my usual bank cards (I have a personal and joint account with Natwest, giving me two identical and very easily confused cards - I’ve switched my personal POS spending to Mondo, solving the problem).
BUT I do agree with the OP about the card numbers being hard to read. I’ve got fairly poor sight and would definitely struggle to enter the card numbers for an online purchase.
My suggestion would be to offer a few options, so people can choose a colour that helps them identify their card in a wallet full of cards, and potentially a high contrast option for people who need it.
Would you describe the colour as coral?
The colour is definitely putting Mondo’s name out there, awesome guerrilla marketing.
women in shop was like where you get that showed her my app .
The colour defo stands out and almost every merchant will make a remark about it. Even when jokingly they say it burn their retinas
The coral card does seem to match one of the colours of the Mondo logo, is an intention to have cards in any of the other 3 colours with the same luminescent effect?
The pattern around the chip that does look like a world(mondo) was it intentional?
Could this pattern form the M logo as well?
Customer service number could be more readable on back with out numbers from front showing
