[Brexit Chat] Will she survive Part Two?

What a difference two years makes.

Labour policy is to push for a GE, and if that fails, all other options are on the table.

What that means, is another question.

Oh well, it’s not like there’s anything more important that parliament ought to be getting on with at the moment. :frowning:

The DWP did think it was a good day to announce a £7,000pa cut to Universal Credit for some mixed aged couples. So they’ve not been completely idle.

Hide negative news behind bigger news? :pensive:

Wouldn’t be the only political party to do it tbh…

All other options :rofl: Let’s see how well Jeremy does! Maybe he can learn to wear a tie properly and realise that the world is not in all groovy! In fact, let’s make Abbot Brexit Secretary :joy: If you need to find her she is probably literally shadowing the Home Secretary. At least it would make no deal a bit more exciting!

I stand by the fact that of the leaders, May is the best fit for now. She has done a better job than most give her credit for. None could have done it better. A vote of NC will go nowhere.

A second referendum? Perhaps. To decide on the best exit strategy, not for a “leave” or “remain” vote. What that would look like :man_shrugging:

How much worse could Diane do when compared with say David Davis as Brexit secretary?

How someone looks and holds themselves is extremely important to me and indeed the human subconscious. In my opinion he looks scruffy and this is reflected in his life and views. He is not the person for the job.

A successful vote of NC would be suicidal at this stage.

There’s actually a lot to be said for this.

Can anyone honestly look at Jezza and think he looks like a Prime Minister?

Regardless of someones politics, how someone looks can have an influence on voters decisions, while it might not be a thing for everyone… it’s still a thing for some.

Take the comments about Bojo’s hair for example…

Sounds very shallow when you read it back to yourself doesn’t it?

Not at all.

But getting the thread back on track, in my opinion she must survive in post for the sake of the country.

I am not sure that anyone expected the deal to be approved. Is there enough time to amend terms? Will the EU flex? I think the answer is no to both.

A no deal is looking realistic as it stands or they cave into the pressure for a further referendum. What this looks like is anyone’s guess.

Either way, May is the best person to lead the charge. In my opinion.

Last post for me on the ‘looks’ topic…

Back on Topic:

She’ll survive tonight, there’s no way the tories will want to face a GE.

I’m not sure the general public will want to face a GE!

Con 317-1 (deputy speaker) = 316
Lab 256-2 (deputy speakers) = 254
SNP = 35
Lib Dem = 11
DUP = 10
Sinn Féin 7-7 (Abstain) = 0
Plaid Cymru = 4
Green = 1
Independent = 8
Speaker 1-1 = 0

Everyone except Con and DUP = 313
326 (con+dup) - 313 = 13

So assuming literally everybody except tory and dup vote to kick may out, we need at least 13 tory MPs to also hate May?

I would have said the ERG would be those candidates… but JR.Mogg came out in support of May last night

Which isn’t going to happen.

Maybe not, but maybe that is on us and not him

Voting for people who “looked” right has got this and other countries some right rubbish leaders

While I agree with you, I do find it hipocritical of many (not saying you) who support Corbyn to get outraged when people mention his image, when in reality they have no issue with people talking about Boris Johnson’s image, or Jacob Rees-Mogg’s image, or what Theresa May might have done in that field of hers, or the close relationship David Cameron might have had with his animals.

Judge someone on their political career, but do it consistently!
