I am from the U.K and am planning on going to New Zealand with a working holiday visa for 12 months. Would my employer be able to pay me through this account without being charged a conversion rate?
If your employer is paying a UK Monzo account, it would be fine (it would be like you were in the UK).
You would then have access to your salary in GBP - If you bought things un NZ, Monzo would convert it for you (at a very good rate).

But just to clarify @anon18658550 ,
If it’s a foreign bank paying into a UK account then it’d be an international payment, which Monzo don’t fully support yet 
But if it’s a UK bank paying into your Monzo account it should be fine.
