Monzo are one of the few banks to let you open the app and view your transactions without having to authenticate.
It’s something I like a lot, and since nobody else should be able to unlock my phone, it feels sufficiently secure for my needs.
I’d be very interested to hear what proportion of customers choose to require the app to be unlocked. Also interested to hear whether this varies according to age, gender, geography or some other factor. I guess I could set up a poll, but are these the kind of statistics Monzo would be willing to publish?
I guess a poll on the Community forum wouldn’t necessarily be representative of the wider customer population.
I don’t. It’s one of the big pluses of Monzo compared to other bank apps.

I do. Face ID is really quick and easy, so an extra layer of security, while it might not really add much protection, adds so little friction, I don’t notice it.
I’m the same as @Anarchist - have Face ID to unlock my phone and then Face ID again to unlock Monzo.
It is generally really quick and easy and doesn’t actually require me to “do” anything. I can’t remember if I set that up or If it came like that out of the box. (I don’t remember going into setting to do it - but could’ve popped up when I first set up).
I only have fingerprint in the app for authentication of payments
I did have it for the app entry (and still do for Starling, HSBC and a few other apps) but my fingerprint scanner can be a bit temperamental so I disabled it
I lock my app. No real reason, I have a fingerprint sensor on the back of my phone, so it’s literally half a second to open the app, so I don’t see why not.
It’s the same level of convenience for me to open it locked and unlocked, so I lock it. If I had to punch in a pin I would probably leave it unlocked.
