Also the fact that Monzo maintain this community, I can’t imagine many ‘real’ banks having a customer community like this, so you’re stuck shouting on Reddit about stuff (see the Revolut and Curve subreddits LOL)
Actually, I joined First Direct last month and they’ve invited me to a similar forum for improving their app and features, but its not quite as Wild West as this
This is probably where I’m at - things are improving financially, as is my own money understanding and Monzo just isn’t the best place to make your money work for you. I still hold them dear to my heart for making banking better (sub #500k user here) but it feels a bit cash grabby and trying to be something more than what it needs to be.
I dunno, will keep the account open but think it’ll get used less and less as 2025 moves on.
That’s the one - haven’t spent a lot of time there though
EDIT: Have just been on it - trash.
We opened our first direct account in 1991, and of course at that time being able to call up was great it was like space age, but really their app etc hasn’t really evolved so we switched out to Santander, crappy app but cashback…
Exactly my reaction
Some of us may be full Monzo. Most not. The top 10 forum topics at this point confirms all:
None relate directly to Monzo. The lack of open discussion regarding banking online (elsewhere) is sorely lacking - OR - the pull of this forum thanks to passion simply displaces all others
Strangely, there is another non Monzo banking forum which you’d expect me to be at. But I quite like it here, and never say never.
I use full Monzo because my credit is crap and unable to get another bank account until I win the lottery
I’m about 95% Monzo. Use it as my primary personal, joint, credit card and savings accounts.
Have a modest balance with another bank linked to one of those high rate regular savers and my stocks and shares ISA is elsewhere as Monzo’s current investment offering doesn’t meet my needs.
The correct sayings are couldn’t care less, meaning that you are not in the least concerned about it, and wreak havoc, not wreck havoc.
Also: dog eat dog world.
As you said yourself, some of us argue that incorrect sayings spoil the English language.
Case and point
My Monzo account is used for:
Paying off/being paid shared tabs with others who use Monzo for their income/spending.
It has a few closed current accounts switched in so I leave it open just in case of stray payments.
It’s de facto dormant. Feels to me like it’s had it’s time but many of my friends are ardent users, so it keeps me in the numbers.
Feels a bit like having a PayPal account left open. Although I closed PayPal, Monzo have done a better job of keeping relevant in my friendship groups.
Ha - I’d forgotten that one. Also “First come, first serve”.
Full Monzo, but have a Starling account I don’t use anymore, plus a RBS account so I can pay cash into local branch when I get to the £1000 Monzo limit.
I don’t understand why anyone would be “full Monzo”. I have a Max plan with family extras, a joint account, Flex, and will likely add children when old enough. My salary is paid in and all DD’s come out. I don’t use the investment products because they are woefully inadequate.
However, I still have Starling, Chase, Wise, Revolut, NatWest, more credit cards than I care to count and a few investment accounts. I don’t understand why you wouldn’t open every account available to utilise cash withdrawals, credit facilities and FSCS limits, when it’s free to do so.
