Architects practice eligible for business account?

As a small architects practice are we eligible to open a business account?

We’re really more in the design and creative industry than ‘construction and civil engineering’

Anyone can open a business account :slight_smile:

I’m just a small freelancer and I have one. I’d recommend applying and the worst they can say is no :man_shrugging:

Actually they can’t - ‘construction and civil engineering’ is specifically not allowed :frowning:

That said, I’m not sure that Monzo would classify an architect under that umbrella. All you can do is ask or try :slight_smile:

Hopefully they’ll consider us part of the design and creative industry as we don’t construct anything.

Do you know what category you came under in the end??

If you’re a limited company, the category comes from Companies House – so if, for example, Monzo Bank Limited applied for a business account, we’d come up as the following SIC codes:

  • 64191 - Banks
  • 64999 - Financial intermediation not elsewhere classified

For that reason, it’s always a good idea to check that your “Nature of business” is correct in Companies House before you apply.
