How will we ever survive without the new button for 2 days :slightly_frowning_face:

It’s gonna be rough, but we’re about to find out…

Sorry folks, a cancelled train scuppered my schedule today!

Thanks to everyone who’s signed up, we’re at the 50 now so we’ll get everyone switched on for Monday.

Have a great weekend!

Damn, 30 minutes late :sob:

No change there, that’s in the current app.

I’ve literally never seen or heard of this before and I use the Monzo app several times a day. Never get prompted to upgrade or promote it (except for the above-mentioned static Upgrade button which I don’t notice anymore). Is this an A-B testing thing?

Possibly. My wife transferred money to Wise the other day. A Wise ā€œcardā€ was added to her card stack with the invitation to connect her account, use custom categories etc… The only thing it didn’t say was that she’d have to pay for this.

Don’t know if it’s happening every time as that’s the only time she’s needed to transfer money outside of Monzo recently.

It’s a bit more discreet, being a little circle with a couple of stars in it. I can ignore that more easily. In the past there’s been a tab added to the bottom menu (very intrusive), animated buttons which grab your attention every time (distracting).

I’m already on a paid plan. If I wanted a different one I’d have chosen it. If I want a different one I’m future I’ll look for it.

If on a free plan, alert me to the fact there are other things then allow me to dismiss that and not be bothered again - if I know the option is there I’ll look for it if I change my mind.

Not for me it’s not, it’s exactly like in the screenshot of the new version with the explore tab in the screenshot above:

Maybe this is why your upgrade button is smaller than mine (I’m not on a paid plan). If so, there’s a good chance you’ll continue to have the smaller upgrade button with the redesigned ā€˜explore’ version of the home screen.

I have a strong dislike for intrusive ads, but I have to say that I completely forget the ā€˜Upgrade’ button is even there. In my normal use of the app, I’m not often using the top of the screen so it doesn’t get in my way and the colours are muted and fit in. It feels like a good balance to me. Of course we all have different preferences in this area.

Interesting. This is mine.

Not that size matters, of course :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

I’ve enabled the new experience for 47 of you, please let us know what you think :bowing_man:

@MalaiseForever your email wasn’t linked to any account but feel free to resubmit the form and I’ll check in a couple days

First thoughts… Its not apparent that the tiles on the explore page can be scrolled horizontally… And I don’t see a tile for flex?

I’m in!

First thing I noticed is that I still have my ā€œExtraā€ tab at the bottom, is that planned to go?

I also already have my mortgage but there’s a tile to add it. Should this know I’ve already done it?

I wasn’t around when you released the form so missed out. If a slot becomes available, could I be included please?
(Since you mentioned 50, but only have 47 activated)

Initial thoughts after 5 minutes of poking around…

  1. I like that there is now a dedicated area for exploring features/products.
  2. Use of search symbol for explore tab doesn’t seem ideal. Seems high potential to confuse with transaction search.
  3. Transaction search and filter should remain accessible after tapping see all on the activity widget. At the moment it seems you can only launch these features from the home tab.

One more observation which probably isn’t specific to the new interface, but it seems worth mentioning here. I think Monzo is by far the worst bank for making full terms and conditions documents easily accessible prior to applying for a product. For example if I tap on Explore and then Flex, I can see summary terms but I can’t see any way to access full terms and conditions of the product. I’m sure that terms and conditions document would be made available at some stage in the application process, but I shouldn’t have to enter the application process to access it.

Oops - yes I recently changed my email address on Monzo and forgot about it!

The virtutal cards card surprising allows me to actually attempt to create a new one but fails because I have the maximum already (although the error doesn’t actually say this).

That needs fixing.

Maybe hide or a separate one that takes you to your cards if you have them setup already?

I like this a lot though. Bit easier to navigate than via the menu.

I’ve already commented above that it’s a no no to use the search icon and should be something else like a compass

Thanks for all the feedback so far! Some quick responses below…

Thanks for taking a look! Do you have flex already? If so, you wont see it. We’ll remove tiles for any product/feature you have/use, where you can’t have another one.

No plans for this to go anywhere right now

This one stays because you can add multiple mortgages, if you have more than one

We plan for search to play a much bigger part here before we make the tab widely available so hopefully this will make more sense as time goes on

Hi @ConnorPB

I have my mortgage added, but when I go and try and add another mortgage and go through the workflow at the end of it, the bottom menu bar has disappeared. I have to force quit the app for the menu bar to reappear.

The layout of all the tiles feels a bit clunky, the tiles are different sizes and scrolling sideways feels unnatural. I like the way the current extra tab is laid out.

Thanks for switching on. It looks good. My initial reaction was the flicker on iOS. It does it on maps and now on the Explore cards. It’s worse in dark mode.

It might be nice in some way re Flex not showing cos I have it, same with investments and overdraft to put a reminder card at the end of the scroll saying ā€œyou have thisā€ with a :white_check_mark: or something. It feels strange knowing I have them but can’t see them.

Some way of incorporating Perks tab into explore would be cool.

Great work so far :+1:

Possibly would have expected the credit insights section to be in the explore tab.

Overall seems a good place to find things.

When clicking pots and virtual cards though I think it should pop up what you can do rather taking you to a create screen. People new to Monzo wont know what these are.
