I just tried to move money from my current account to one of my pots. In our joint account we have a pot called âbufferâ. In my personal account we have a pot called âbufferâ.
From the Pots list view on Home Screen, I clicked on my buffer pot. It opens up in a carousel view containing ALL pots. They are mixed up, with no indication of which account the pot belongs too.
I moved the money into the wrong buffer pot. No drama - I can move it back.
However, this needs some work - separation of concerns, please!
I also realised how much money I had sitting in pots⌠madness. Moved it all out to a 5% easy access Savings account. If Monzo offered decent interest on everything in your account, that would be greatâŚ
I really, really donât like this evolution. The new Home Page feels entirely redundant and adds friction between opening the app and my transactions feed. The old version, where you loaded up the app and could immediately scroll down to see transactions, and swipe across to see all the cards/accounts/pots you had was so simple and smooth.
There are now two (or more!) layers between me and seamlessly interacting with my actual finances (the transactions themselves). On the Home Page, I need to click âsee allâ to view my transactions, and then you canât really interact with them the same way you used to because it comes up on a pop-up tab. Youâve got to click the card image at the top to get to the old school scroll-and-swipe page, which is much faster and more intuitive.
Really hope that they give an option to go retro and reload the old UI. I donât find the separation of the Home Page (which now contains Pots) from the old actual card/account section (which doesnât) useful, helpful or clean at all.
Love Monzo and always have - but this one I think is a step backwards!!
If the official attitude of a company who posted ÂŁ116M loss last year to current customers is this, I worry for their future. That reported Alphabet cash isnât in the bank yet!
By most standards, other than speed/ease of user experience on the app, Monzo is a bang average bank, who rely heavily on style over substance. So if theyâre going to keep âfixingâ things that arenât broken they could have problems down the line.
Personally itâs annoying enough that Iâll start to look elsewhere, despite the aggravation that will be.
New update is just⌠terrible! Gah! So much harder to do anything! So much less intuitive! So confusing. Itâs doing my head in.
And why are my Savings pots hidden away in some remote and special corner of the app like theyâve been exiled, like Napoleon, to Elba?
This is my first ever post and Iâve signed up here to say exactly this: for the love of everything that is good and holy, please sort these issues out.
The way you use the app may work for you, but some other customers want more from it than just one screen with a list of transactions (not saying that it isnât ok for you to want that!). They have to evolve the app to expand their offering, and they have been doing so with a lot of consultation with customers both on here and âout in the wildâ. It is not in their interest to make the app unusable and lose all their customers, they arenât just making knee-jerk decisions with no evidence base/research.
They are still taking feedback onboard and refining things - including the ability to hide and move different sections coming at some point in the near future. Hopefully, with a few more customisation options (i.e. opening by default to your personal card page or something like that) more people will be happy over the next few months.
I hope some options appear that make it more usable for you - I personally wouldnât want to revert to what it was originally as I (mostly) like the changes. I donât like the fact Investments and Savings are lumped in together - but based on how many people say this I imagine this may well change! I also want to be able to hide the Pots section as I donât use it.
PS - A lot of the changes are paving the way for features that people do want/like, such as investments.
We have some designs we never implemented which showed this in the navigation barâs subtitle. Will add a note so we can pick this up soon, sorry for the confusion
I look at all my transactions! My frustration is that this section (see pic) isnât the first thing you see when you open the app (as it was) and that instead there are layers of taps needed to get to it. I just think Home Screen is an unnecessary added layer that adds friction between opening the app and interacting with my finances, which is what made Monzo feel so smooth and seamless. Itâs duplicative and only serves to separate bits of my Monzo experience into different pages and tabs which I think slows the experience down
Which is what caused confusion, there was no âhomeâ for everyone at all times. Where you were when you pressed home, took you to different places/things.
