After upgrading, what works & what doesn’t? Here’s my experience so far:
Gone are the days of nail-biting discoveries that crucial apps & services just stopped.
A very polished release, with anticipation of Material 3 Expressive changes appearing later…
I would think that at this point now, public releases would be working almost perfectly. Google are quite on the ball nowadays so any reported bugs from beta testers get ironed out quickly.
My partner hasn’t had any issues with Android 16 since upgrading last night, but he was disappointed that Material 3 Expressive wasn’t in the release. I have the QPR1 beta on my phone and while mostly stable, a few little bugs scares him too much to test it so will have to wait for the public release.
I’ve stayed away from beta’s for the last few years due to increasing dependency on apps actually working (banking, house, car) but I’m very tempted to join the 16-beta’s at this point, just for the development of the native desktop mode.
Beta’s with other manufacturers usually cause issues because the OS isn’t “signed” by Google. Pixel beta’s are usually pretty fine for the most part. At least Android 15 and 16 anyway.
Been testing desktop mode this morning and it’s pretty good. A few little niggles but otherwise pretty decent. Nowhere as polished as Samsung Dex is but it’s getting there.
Anyways, I don’t want to take over this thread with Beta chat, so… Android 16 public release.

Maybe just me, but 1Password’s autofill has completely stopped working in Chrome as well as other apps. I’ve checked the autofill settings in the OS, Chrome and 1Password and all seems fine.
Anyone else?
Hi there, coincidentally I have been trying to create a new account via my Android since yesterday and once I click on the link via my email, the app stays on the loading page and nothing happens. Is there a bug for creating new accounts?
