Zopa Bank Chat

If you’re doing that from the Zopa app that’s not Zopa supporting access to Zopa accounts via open banking. That’s Zopa using Santander open banking access.

The person I was responding to wants to be able to connect to their Zopa account from the Monzo app.

Set up a £1500 dd to Plum in the hope of getting all the cash back in one go (I know others have succeeded using Moneybox).

I’ve just realised your photo isn’t just an image error. It’s been bugging me so much

No, it’s a paper sleeve

I have used Zopa for a few payments and personal payments. Seems nice and quick and no issues. However, I hope I don’t have to call their CS as had found this a little poor previously. They have connected accounts like Monzo. It’s a pity they’re not on Monzo’s list of connected accounts atm despite Monzo being on theirs.

Im new to saving & rather confused. I opened a Zopa account and put 300 in last month & have received £1.78 interest over the month. Zopa state you can earn up to £146 for the year by depositing the full £300 a month at 7.5/7.25%.

Maybe stupidly but I assumed I would be making 7.5% or 7.25% on my deposits each month, so essentially £22.50/£21.75 added in interest each month. How have I got this so wrong?

I also have a chip isa which pays 4.58% interest and this accrues about a pound a day!

That’s about the right amount. 7.25% annually equates to 0.58% per month.

If you got 7.25% each month, that would be 231% a year.

Your Chip ISA is paying about 0.37% per month (0.012% daily).

Assuming you keep putting in £300 on the first day of each month…
In month 1 you will earn approx. 300 x 0.0725 x 1/12 = 1.81
In month 2 you will earn approx. 600 x 0.0725 x 1/12 = 3.63
etc

It’s easily thought of that way so you’re not stupid but if this was the case everyone would be saving so much more. I only wish it were like this.

It’s clever marketing by savings’ providers.

Makes so much sense! Thank you for taking the time to explain! Annoyingly my chip has no limit & Zopa is £300 a month, so I suppose that explains the high interest received on my balance.

Really appreciate the explanation! Suddenly crystal clear. Though questionable whether it’s worth having yet another account for £146 after an entire year. But equally it’s ‘free’ money for a little patience/perseverance!

Haha very clever way to get us beginners jumping at it! It would be a dream :joy:

The GBP/AUD rate seems good.

It’s very normal to have several days between acceptance of a loan and releasing of funds.

Depending on the situation, Santander is within 2 working days, Halifax is up to 3 working days, HSBC up to 3 working days, Lloyds the next working day.

Anyway I think the issue was the inability to dismiss the notification.

I have the same. Doesn’t help that it’s designed to look like an error message or warning!

Yep got the same and you can’t get rid of it. I’ll just have to ignore it
