Working from Home

To be fair it was fine as the work was steady away and didn’t need to do much, now it’s getting much more involved and loads more to do, which is just painful to attempt on that size of a screen.

I know my manager was quite shocked that I wasn’t using another larger screen. Problem rectified now at least

I know lots of employers are still pLaying catchup, but everyone needs to think about their own health too right now. Waiting a few months for an employer to get their act together may be too late - buy a decent screen, mouse and keyboard NOW

Forgotten how much I miss my multi screen set up, I’ve got 2 monitors sat on my desk in the works office, I think they’re 22". We’re not allowed to remove anything like that from the office so both sat going unused until I return to the office sometime never. Hence having to buy one now to work at home with.

He’s got the bug! :desktop_computer::desktop_computer::desktop_computer::desktop_computer::desktop_computer::desktop_computer:

Will be extending the office into next doors house to fit all the screens in

I keep scouring eBay for the same model I already have… I feel like I can justify a 2nd hand one at the right price…

But I can’t for the life of me deal with a different one… and there’s no way I can convince my other half “I got a good deal” or “work paid for all three” when I buy 3 brand new ones…

Edit: ooooh but looking on eBay the 24in version of the monitor I have is on there… hmmmm

They all need to be the same make and model that’s for sure. Don’t forget once you’ve got 3 you can go a row above…

Some people at my work insisit on all monitors being perfectly level and touching each other so there is no gap between. I like mine to be distinctively apart.

I have a matt one for reading and another one for fancy graphics…

What kind of savage are you, no gaps is indeed the correct method :scream::scream:

Sadly my graphics card can’t fit any more than three…

Oh… yes I see where this is going…

Only one graphics card?! You’re crazy…

We just took the leap at work and surrendered the lease on our Head Office. Our Central Support team will be fully remote from now on, everyone’s getting a one off pimp your workspace allowance to get any equipment we need plus a monthly allowance for going to work from a local coffee shop for a change of scenery + gas/electric/decent broadband. Exciting times!

Was wondering if any of you working from home have bought a decent webcam since lockdown started?

Since the graphics card I was nearly convinced to buy is out of stock, I thought I’d get a webcam instead.

Having a hard time trusting the reviews on all the random Amazon ones - so wondered if anyone has a good one they can recommend?

Cheers!

The Logitech Brio is an outstanding webcam - if you can source one! I bought a few of these for work at the end of last year for adding to large Sharp presentation displays (similar set-up to Google’s Jamboard solution). We have several more on backorder, with no ETA available

Just grab whatever when it comes to a webcam in all honesty, unless you’re up on some massive screen it’s not going to matter too much about the quality

The seven stages to the WFH nirvana

Have you passed the “I only communicate by email and never answer the phone” stage?

Oh lord no. Personally I video call everything. I hate emails, only use them when a written record is important.

You’re still speaking to people?! Give up your conscious mind, you must
