I do have to disagree with your analysis of the comments.
I did find many positive comments regarding working from home too.
Just a few:
“The cost of living and working in London has not decreased. More extra costs of bills have increased. Travel costs get more expensive each year but London weighting does not just cover travel expenses. It costs more to drive around London with extra costs imposed on motorists. People drive to work so have to pay fuel, congestion charges etc just to get in the office now. So is the incentive for this us to encourage people to incur costs to pay for driving, travelling on public transport and eating in city centres. People who WFH are actually supporting local businesses instead of being forced to go into city centres to support coffee shops etc”
“WFH is a benefit to the UK and beyond. it reduces significant pollution to our ozone, reduces accidents on our roads, NHS Bill’s, Policing, reduces burglaries, confirmed as being more productive therefore decreading expenditure, on the downside it Increases mental health problems for some, however, being able to go in 2 days per week would help.”
“If we really care about the place we call home, the earth. we should celebrate working from home. Less traffic, less eyesore office blocks, more places to live, less antidepressants. Why should we all spend our lives miserable, spending 3 hours a day on a dirty, uncomfortable below acceptable form of transport. Let’s try and celebrate moving in to a happier future, rather than stuck in the miserable 20th century with our alcohol, illegal and legal drug dependency.”
As far as my opinion goes, yes I was a huge advocate of getting people back to their places of work, but the more I have researched it, I can see some of the benefits.
I do still feel that there are some disadvantages to working from home, such as mentioned on the “working from home poll” thread
Whether working from home will be advantageous or not, only time will tell.
