Wiki: Current Account Switching Incentives 💸

Good spot. Wayback Machine has the offer withdrawn on the 28th March, so it appears it lasted 15 days!

Tried to move my £1500 to and from Santander in two lots and the second payment has been held. Now on hold to the fraud team. Not got a great impression so far!

Happened to me with Lloyds the first time.

20 minutes and counting!

Not a great impression for protecting your account from fraud or laundering?

Blimey.

Fair point :joy:

On t’other hand, that caution is why they can afford to do the refund guarantee when you do something stupid (or just get caught out). Basically they turn up the sensitivity for fraud knob.

Has anyone received the First Direct payout yet? If I’m reading the conditions correctly it should be today for those of use who have met the requirements.

Edit: the 20th is actually tomorrow. So maybe Monday?!

Update: just got paid out by FD. On a Sunday afternoon!

(And yes, the notification worked perfectly)

:radioactive: first direct closes tomorrow evening.

Just to make others aware, if you are new to Danske, you have to be living in Northern Ireland to apply for the account, and then switch to it.

Have to be, or same have to be like you had to put a local branch for the Ulster switch?

You need to be resident if it’s a new account, live in the UK if you already have an account, or to call them as noted above when putting my UK postcode in.

Not even sure the offer is still running when going through the website.

There’s quite a lot of discussion of this on MSE, the conclusion being that there’s no way around the NI address requirements unless you are somehow already a Danske customer in GB:

One for @Rat_au_van!

Were you on the UK website? It’s literally the first thing you see.

Danske £200 offer Ts&Cs Apr 2024

I’m not sure, it was late

Google took me here:

And then I tapped switching accounts pages:

Which also has no mention.

But the main home page does

I’d have expected reference to the £200 on the accounts list page like most banks do, and in the switching banks page.

But then clicking from home page, £200 offer, it then loads another page of accounts with it at the top:

Poor design team.

Anyone know how long it takes Santander to pay the switch bonus? This is the longest I’ve had to wait.

The terms say that after 60 days of the switch, they’ll check if you are eligible. Within 30 days of that, they will pay the money.

That’s why I’ve started posting the Ts&Cs here, some banks (Santander definitely has in the past) remove them from the website once the offer is over.
