Sad times
Question, which Iām not sure if Iāve found a solid answer.
If I use the switching service, for a bank that has my salary paid in, does the switch service or new bank tell the employer about the bank details change?
Changing mine as a contractor is an absolute chore, I would guess they will still pay into the details of current bank which redirects to new bank which is fine.
If I then also move new bank to another bank, does it go from bank A, to bank B, to redirect to bank C?
Or directly from A to C?
Iāve not heard of anything like that, as they donāt specifically know who is going to send you incoming payments, its not a standardised thing the same way a direct debit is. My understanding is the redirected payments would daisy chain and just get forwarded multiple times but it only does that for a limited time. Long term youāll want to give people the updated account details.
Whenever Iāve switched banks, the next time any income is paid itās taken care of by the CASS redirection but after that it gets paid directly to the new account, so the payer is notified of the new details.
Iāve actually seen payee bank details update before my eyes in Starlingās app when Iāve paid somebody who has switched.
Interesting, not heard of that before!
More of a chore to not get paid because you couldnāt be bothered to make sure you would.
Iām sure Iād manage a week apart, was more curious how it works.
A form, an email, a document, a signed document, and an email will sort it.
This is the official explanation of what happens from CASS:
āThe Current Account Switch Service will redirect payments to your new account. Each time an electronic payment is redirected an automatic message is sent back to the originator advising them of the new account details so they can update their records.ā
Help and support to make sure your current account switch goes smoothly.
Itās always worked fine for me. Iāve never updated any details manually, but theyāve always been updated by the system.
So, switch from fd to Starling completed today, employer likely wonāt have known yet but I can see the pending inbound bacs payment in Starling.
Wouldnāt have thought that be possible this soon.
TSB bonus has just been paid I had it last year too.
Ā£200 to Nationwide, 2 direct debits.
Canāt have had since 2021.
Ah what its specifically since 18th August 2021
And i opened mine on the 24th August 2021
I started fresh with nationwide 7 months ago so hoping they donāt clock on, but probs will.
Is this offer for new customers only? Canāt find information about thisā¦
No idea.
Canāt remember clearly, but I donāt think I got it last year.
Itāll say member for X years if you log onto the website. If it says X months youāll have had a new customer number I think.
Thatās at 7 months or so.
Shouldnāt matter so long as youāve not had a switch bonus from them since August 2021. Iām switching into my existing account with them too. The Ā£100 earlier in the year doesnāt count as it wasnāt a switch bonus.
Hi guys just wondering if anyone has came across this⦠never had this issue before. My switch was due to finish today but nothing transferred over. Spoke to new bank who said itās still pending & old bank didnāt send over the details for the switch. Spoke to old bank & gave them the switch ref number and they canāt find the switch⦠canāt initiate new switch as itās still pending. Donāt know whether to cancel switch and try again?
