Thereās a CASS advert in the Cinemas at the moment which I thought was interesting. Basically saying if your bank is crap you can switch.
Doesnāt obviously recommend or advertise any one bank but I just thought it was a surprising thing to see

People can be anxious about switching and think itās a chore, even with nice bonuses for doing so.
Adverts like this are positive in my view. Some people might dislike their bank but didnāt know they could switch etc.
Itās good to see imo.
There are Current Account Switch Service hoardings at my local rail station. They replaced the Starling one advertising their joint account.
And most people donāt hate their bank.
āAhh the app is a bit crapā āShe was a bit rude when I was in the branchā etc etc arenāt usually enough of a reason to push people to move.
Even when itās worth hundreds of pounds, people still stick with what they know. Thatās before the worry of it going wrong. The first time I used CASS to get rid of Natwest to go to Monzo I was really surprised at how easy it was.
Iām surprised these incentives havenāt stopped as a loss but Iām sure I read that most people donāt actually switch continually and will just stick with the one bank.
But they probably actually arenāt losing money - particularly if people take extra credit products as a result
They certainly get much more press and advertising now on social media and such with ReachMedia (I think thatās who owns most of the local press & The Mirror)
āHow to earn £££ from Bank Aā
Usually full underneath of comments mind slagging off the bank because they wouldnāt give the person commenting a Credit Card or Overdraft
Interested in the result of this because looking at the Ts and Cs it has
You wonāt be eligible for this offer if you (or in the case of a joint account, either account
holder) have already taken advantage of a cash switcher offer from NatWest, Royal Bank of Scotland and/or Ulster Bank between 1st October 2017 and 13th February 2023.
So does that mean after 14th February if you havenāt had one between that time period you could go Natwest > RBS > Ulster and collect Ā£600?
No I think this means if you have already done the switch during that period and got paid you wonāt get it again. I switched to both natwest and rbs in november/december so I dont think I would get paid out from a switch back.
What Iām saying is if they didnāt get a bribe during that period theres nothing to say February 14th onwards you can technically switch three times between the brands to collect Ā£200 each time.
If NatWest to RBS pays out the £200 for @Revels , then RBS to Ulster should also pay £200, meaning £600
Thatās my logic. It says nothing about 14th onwards.
If they donāt pay out I will be complaining.
Yes, I think your reading is correct.
Whatās the deal with Ulster? Do you have to wait for post and then sign and return?
Thatās all I did. Put in the passcode the first time, then turned on FaceID.
Ulster sounds fun But thereās no direct debits and the RBS account will be dead anyway, so not got anything to lose really.
I was brand new to the app. I would imagine any logging in will be fine. Itāll just be a āDid customer access the app?ā and a tickbox.
HSBC, that you?
Got the NatWest bonus then switched to RBS, completed yesterday so Iāll update if I get the bonus from there as well. Took 3 days for NatWest to pay out from switching completion. Meanwhile the First direct bonusā¦
2 months ish for FD I think it was
TBF, I didnāt get too much paperwork from HSBC considering I opted for their credit card, too.
FD was a different story, though.
Very true. Mentally I meant FD
I got the FD payout in less than a week, but they seem to be a lot slower now.
I opened an Ulster bank account few years back, no paperwork, all completed online.
Natwest to RBS confirmed for the 16th.
If they allow it, then Iāll try Ulster. Otherwise I think Iāve pretty much got them all now. Maybe Halifax if they launch another one?
