Wiki: Current Account Switching Incentives šŸ’ø

Yeah. I already have co-op (but not a current account) and moving over to the regular saver has bumped up the rate I was getting so an easy Ā£15/month for me. Got the Ā£75 during the week.

Barclays offer just dropped. Bye TSB:

Quite rare for barclays to do a switch offer is it not?

Account already open. Iā€™ll hang on to add Blue Rewards until I get the TSB payout and can start the switch.

I have edited the bottom ones to add it with the T&Cs

Tied to Blue Rewards. That, and how shit Barclays are make me think this is not worth Ā£175 to me.

Though nice to see them actually offering cash, thatā€™s apparently almost unheard of for Barclays.

Am I seeing with the Barclays that thereā€™s no date eligiblity on when you last had a bribe or do I need another coffee?

You arenā€™t eligible for it if you have ever received a Barclays switch reward (3rd bullet of the ineligiblity criteria)

Ah that sucks :disappointed:

I hope some statistical peeps from these banks see thereā€™s less people switching banks from this recent trend of saying you canā€™t have had a bribe before and reverse that criteria.

Time for another coffee :coffee:

I mean Ā£175 for 15 minutes work, and then switch out as soon as the cash hits your account, not too shabby even if Barclays isā€¦

Have you banked with Barclays before? Thereā€™ll almost certainly be a cock up, requiring you to visit a branch; and theyā€™ll only have one appointment on a Wednesday at 10:30am four weeks from now at a branch 25 miles from you, take it or leave it.

Yep I was a Premier Banking customer for years until they started pulling all the benefits (I used to get free bottles of wine, free coffee - I think it was Patisserie Valerie, free theatre tickets).

I personally never had a problem, and unlike Monzo they do actually have a branch (whether you want to go or not), but I am child of the 70ā€™s and I remember Apartheid and Barclays links to that. They never change, but I am happy to take Ā£175 off their shareholders before sticking two fingers up to them.

I had no issues recently, just hated the app, slow, clunky, notifications hit and miss. Switched to Santander for now until that pays out.

Agreed, the app is a bit rubbish. This is basically the last bribe Iā€™m eligible for so once Iā€™ve got it I will decide where I want to park my ā€˜high streetā€™ account (probably Lloyds or RBS).

Gave up on nationwide?

Theyā€™re still processing my complaintā€¦ had an update on Sunday saying itā€™s going to take them until 28th July! If they do change their mind Iā€™d be happy with that as a second account but they seem in no hurry.

You could always open Virgin and wait

Actually quite tempted by that idea :joy:

All being well, Nationwide will be more proactive than Virgin ever were about merging operations. Ye olde Northern Rock and Virgin Essentials current accounts never became Virgin Money despite them saying early on that theyā€™d CASS everything onto one system.

My money is on Nationwide moving to the Virgin current account platform in relatively short order (much as Yorkshire and Clydesdale became what was then B).
