Why do payments incoming take 2 days to clear

Had email from PayPal to tell me money been paid in yesterday yet Monzo telling me not available until tomorrow.

Why does it take that long ? Anyone know

If it’s showing as an upcoming transaction in Monzo (greyed out) then PayPal paid via a BACS payment. Those take three days to clear through the banking system.

Banks can see it early but the money is not guaranteed until the end of the third day which is why most banks won’t show it until the end of the cycle.

Monzo choose to show it early and to allow you to claim it a few hours early, too.
