Why Can’t I Pay Off Flex from my Joint Account?

Or can I? Maybe I’ve not looked closely enough…

Would have to assume because it’s a personal product so would be tied to your personal account?

You cant pay it from the joint account as it’s not linked to there.

It’s linked to your personal profile, so payments come from your sole account.

It shouldn’t really matter which account the repayment comes from, I have to agree on this one.

By all means, it’s a personal credit product. But it should be payable from a personal or joint account. Or ideally, even from a non Monzo account, although I concede that could bring some confusion surrounding which purchases the repayment should beafched against.

I wonder if it’s some legislative thing? Amex are equally as snotty as to where the money comes from - I remember something coming in to effectively say you can only pay your card off using your own personal account in your own name.

It’s probably either that or just a Monzo policy. Quite a lot of features from paid plans don’t work on joint accounts, but I’d say it’s fairly reasonably that a Flex account in specifically one person’s name is paid from an account in specifically that person’s name. The other person on the joint account won’t have anything to do with it. It’s also a limitation that it doesn’t accept payments from external banks like most other credit cards.

Interesting, I moved my Amex DD to our joint account last year. They needed a copy of a statement too so they could see it was joint as it shows both names.

All credit cards DDs moved to joint to be baod from a pot - except Flex which as noted can’t be done.
