What's your Credit Karma score?

Nice patronising email from Credit Karma today.

Of course, I’ve actually done nothing of the sort. I usually spend (and pay off) around £100-200 each month on regular stuff which is easier to go on the Amex. Last month I didn’t need to, so didn’t have a bill to pay. Apparently this marks me out for some sort of weird praise for being “such a clever boy”.

Don’t forget to celebrate all the progress you’re making. Why not splash out and put it on your credit card…

677/710 last time I checked. Thankfully it’s rather meaningless in the real world.

My bug bear is the weekly fluctuations. I can start the month at the above, it’ll drop by 15 points and then return before the end of the month.

I don’t understand why it does that as it doesn’t provide any information about why that has occurred or how to prevent it from happening.

The scores on the other credit reference agencies stay static.

My credit karma score drops when my credit card utilisation is 0%, and rises when it’s >=1%, which causes some fairly meaningless fluctuations in my score

 It’s because they’re making it up.

My Credit Karma is all over the place. I fart and it moves score; it’s so unreliable.

It’s also weird how in one screen it says “you’re using 21% of your credit” and on another it somehow thinks I’m using 102% of it which makes no sense. I’ve even contacted them about it.

They’ve reported for the 3rd time now I’m not on the electoral roll. I’ve been on it at my current address for 13 years

 right! I keep doing this yo-yo of contacting them, raising a dispute, fixing it and then off the roll again…

They tell me I need to stop opening new accounts as I have opened one in the last year.

Oh, and here’s 12 credit cards you can apply for now.

Is this not an address disparity thing, house number on the wrong line or something

Maybe somewhere but it’s a simple enough address. I just think they’re a bit shit

So my score in Credit Karma is 9999/710, all my banks, loans, credit cards and address have all gone. My report says I have none of these and no hard or soft searches. Anyone else experiencing this?

Your score is irrelevant, it’s a made up number to keep you invested in the CRA universe which they’ve made up.

If your reports are correct and factual, that’s all what matters.

Thanks, I have deleted app but no luck. The website is showing the same info. Very odd. I’ll raise a dispute.

Just checked mine to see if I have the same issue. But alas, it shows everything is ‘normal’ (certainly not 9999/710 !)

Thanks for checking. It’s a weird one alright

On the positive side, you’ll get any available credit-card/loan/mortgage with that track record

Hopefully the update in 6 days will drop it back down to 654 out of 710 (or better, but at least below 711 )

Credit Karma is really getting on my nerves lately. Daily emails urging me to check my score and apply for credit, an Experian soft search for a number of different cards every morning when I first open Credit Karma, etc.

If you unsubscribe from their emails and/or notifications then you get a window popping up every time you run the app asking you to subscribe again.

I want to be able to see my TransUnion record but Credit Karma is making it very difficult…

Edit: Just ran the CK app again to have another look at my marketing preferences and immediately got another notification from Experian saying a soft search has been done (I’m on the free trial at the moment).
