What happened to the Ukraine app icon

I’m a TestFlight user and assume the latest build no longer has the “stand with Ukraine” app icon

My app has reverted to the standard icon and when I try to change the icon I’m presented with new liquid glass style icons for everything except the “stand with Ukraine” option.

Looks like it has gone from Android 6.48.0 beta too:

Although the files to make the Ukraine launcher icon are still in the app resources:

Interesting guess I’d better not change mine then

This feels like performative branding anyway. They have Pride and a “Black Culture” icon, but no equivalent for other identities or cultures, no neutral national option like a Union Flag, and no coherent framework for what gets represented. Picking a couple of high-visibility causes while omitting the rest looks arbitrary and tokenistic, more PR than principle.

Yeah it’s all a bit arbitrary

You won’t get that choice, it will revert to the default icon when you download the next version.

It’s not common practice for banks to have a political opinion, regardless of how brutal it is.

Having said that, I’d expect monzo to strip all opinionated app icons not just the odd one.

Is that neutral?

it’s like everything monzo they did a few then forgot about it

Technically no flag is neutral to everyone. But I would have thought the Union Flag is one of the most neutral relatively speaking. Although who knows these days….

Wouldn’t the standard Monzo icon be “neutral”?

Maybe something that has an unmistakable, transparent message that they’re coming for your Dubloons is more apt for today:

My Bills pot could use this image. Maybe I’ll ditch the ‘Tom’ one and create a new Jolly Roger one
