Some good results tonight for Monzo and Chase.
Biggest story for me is Starling beginning to recede from view. It’ll be interesting to see if they can hold on to the business award next year - I suspect that others will be coming for them…
That’s interesting as I’ve seen various you tube videos on banks and they’ve downgraded Monzo and placed Chase top for the Cashback but Starling as the better app.
I use both Starling and Monzo for different reasons, I wish I could pull aspects from both into one app but of course that won’t happen.
Good win for Monzo, I’m not sure I would rate Chase as best bank but that’s personal choice.
Oh for sure. Monzo has indeed come a long way and I think the award for app reflects that. But I agree it’s super tough because Chase have also pushed forward with stability and simplicity.
Also confusing. I still don’t think of it as a credit card, more of a BNPL product.

For me, a BNPL product can only be used at a select merchant. You’re limited in how you make your purchase (ie with a username/password). Typically they won’t have a credit limit. They also don’t report to CRAs (unless that’s changed)
Flex product does everything a ‘normal’ credit card does but allows you to extend the upto ~57 days interest free into ~90+ days interest free.
Flex is closed to a credit card than a BNPL product with it being a revolving credit product like a credit card or overdraft.

I see that but my interpretation of what flex is is similar to other banks offer such as NatWest.
A card and account where you can choose to split transactions interest free over a period of months anywhere you like.
Whereas I still see, perhaps old fashioned, a credit card as a product with a specific credit limit and repayment terms. And stand-alone from any current account.
I still don’t think of flex as a credit card even if it is classed as one. It’s a BNPL offering that comes with its own card and account to me.

Eh I mean to be fair I see Flex as a combined version of both while reducing the limitations that come with BNPL schemes like Klarna… which I also find dangerous

Isn’t that only for the first year? Presumably they’ll need a lot of new customers to vote every year if they want to keep winning that!

I agree. Does Flex have S75, and does it allow you to borrow indefinitely? I imagine some of the credit cards offering cashback and/or rewards are feeling hard done by!
It does have this but I bet a lot of people don’t realise it.

I’m really excited to share with you the results from the British Bank Awards last night - I would say, hot off the press, but it looks like you were keeping up to date last night!
For the second year in a row, we’ve won the Best Banking App! 
But we didn’t stop there, we also scooped up Best Credit Card for Monzo Flex 
Unfortunately, we didn’t get Best British Bank this year but we are all working hard to continue making money work for everyone, so we will be ready to win in 2024
